One of the most welcome harbingers of spring in Chicago every year is the return of tour boats to

the waters of Lake Michigan and the Chicago River, including the familiar sightseeing vessels and

water taxis run by WENDELLA SIGHTSEEING (401 N. Wabash, 312.337.1446). Another upshot to

the arrival of spring is the ability to get out and traverse the city without having to be enclosed

in a fully sealed and heated conveyance. In other words, expect plenty of CHICAGO TROLLEY &

DOUBLE DECKER COMPANY (773.648.5000) trolleys and double-decker sightseeing buses.

Finally, no quest for warmth and excitement in Chicago would be complete without a little time

on NAVY PIER (600 E. Grand; 312/595-7437). In addition to the usual assortment of rides and

attractions, the Pier is hosting visits from the Easter Bunny.

It’s Opening Day!

Still undecided about what to do in Chicago? Here is one of our all-time favorites:

Opening day at Wrigley Field (1060 W. Addison) is this Friday and the Chicago Cubs are

committed to making this year a good one. Wrigley Field, celebrating it’s 100 birthday this year,

has a lot of unique elements. While most ballparks have massive parking lots for tailgating, the

easiest way to the stadium is to take public transportation. The redline stops at Addison, just out-

side the field and several buses have extended routes and schedules on game days. The game

starts at 1:20pm, but make sure to get there early, so you can visit one of the many bars on Clark

Street. Most have massive windows in the front that they open during warm weather seasons.

The rowdy fans will have a good time in the bleacher seats while the stadium fans are generally

more reserved. Experience the celebration after the game at Goose Island (3535 N. Clark,

773.832.9040), John Barleycorn (3524 N. Clark, 773.549.6000), The Cubby Bear (1059 W. Addi-

son, 773.327.1662) or one of the countless Wrigleyville favorites.

For tickets to any Cubs game, call 773.404.2827 or visit chicago.cubs.mlb.com.
