American colonist/Patriot.

Born in Virginia in April.

Wrote the Declaration of Independence

Third President of the United States of America

He was the first Secretary of State and served under

John Adams (1735-1826)

American Colonist/Patriot.

Born in Massachusetts in October.

First Vice President under George Washington.

Second President of the United States of America.

The first president to reside in the White House.

John Hancock (1737-1793)

American Colonist/Patriot.

Born in Massachusetts in January.

President of the Second Continental Congress.

Remembered for his large signature on the

Declaration of Independence.

Charles Cornwallis (1738-1805)

British General.

Born in Grosvenor Square, England in December.

Became a Member of Parliament in 1760.

Elevated to the House of Lords in 1762.

One of the five people to vote against the Stamp Act.

John Burgoyne (1722-1792)

British General.

Born in Bedfordshire, England

Designed an invasion scheme for the war.

Appointed to lead 6,200 men South from Canada to end the

rebellion in New England but movement was to slow.

Fought 2 battles at once and surrendered in October 1777.

Benedict Arnold (1741-1801)

Traitor.

Born in Connecticut in January.

First a general in the Continental Army and gathered

information then switched to the British Army.

Gave collected information on the colonists to the British.

William Howe (1729-1814)

British General. Became Commander-in-Chief of the

British forces during the American Revolutionary War.

Born in England in August.

His mother was King George I’s half-sister.
