Office Types Type 1 Each type 1 office has a third party legal representative who is retained, but not employed, by Lloyd’s. A type 1 office satisfies only the minimum requirements for a licence within the territory. Type 2 Type 2 offices have a country representative, who is either employed directly or retained by Lloyd’s. This type of office performs the same function as a type 1 office and may undertake additional functions, such as: local reporting, the promotion of Lloyd’s and local brand protection. Type 3 Each type 3 office has a country manager/market development representative employed by Lloyd’s, who is responsible for pro-active market development and bespoke services within the country/region. This type of office also undertakes all of the activities of type 1 and 2 offices. Type 4 In addition to the services provided by types 1-3, type 4 offices provide bespoke services to support the underwriting of business within the country/region.
