26 August 2015 DAY 12/4 Kerala Campus Conference

““Follow me I will make you fishers of men.”(Mark 1:16-18) Every Jesus Youth is called to be a witness of Jesus..by our sweat..by our word and if God wills by our blood..Kerala Campus Conference is a milestone to achieve such a life-style... a call to open our eyes, to eliminate shadows from our corpo-reality, to revel in the exuberance of Christ...!

Kerala Campus conference has a glorious legacy of over 25 years since its beginning in St.Teresa’s College, Ernakulam in 1991.It has inspired many to live their blessed lives with the Lord. It reinforces faith and helps us realise how enchanting it is to be the bearers of His kingdom.

Jesus Youth holds a magnificent spectrum of ministries all over Kerala brimming with people from all walks of life. The Campus Ministry varies among Engineering Colleges,Medical and Paramedical Colleges, Arts and Science Colleg-es, Nursing Colleges, Law Colleges and other Technical Institutes all connected by a common string of

piety. Campus Conference 2015 aims at passing on the vision ‘Transforming Campuses into Faith Formation centres’. We who are called to be fishers of men have great things to do in our Cam-puses... We are chosen to radiate Christ.

Preparations of all sorts for every facet of this programme have been done vigorously for months. Every Jesus Youth ministry has gath-ered itself and are all set for the big days. November 2014 marks a consequential month for KCC 2015. It was during this month that the Lord’s plan to bring together all the Campuses across Kerala was realised by our leaders. The General Coordination team met on 12 Aug, the media team meeting on 14 Aug and on the 15th of August the Programme team met. A training programme for volunteers and junior resources was held on 13 Aug 2015. A total of 7 subregion wise pre-conferenc-es were conducted for the partici-pants. The intercession ministry has been thorough and innovative in all their prayer initiatives. 100 days of prayer, the Rosary Chal-

lenge and An hour with Christ has already raised the participants to a greater level in their prayer lives. The audio visual team is all set to steal the stage with their mes-merising performances and lively surprises.

The prime focus of KCC 2015 is on cultivating a prayer culture and evangelization. It centers on struc-turing a refinement of unobstruct-ed love and spirit of freedom. It is an invitation to invoke tolerance and acceptance, making it quite effortless to prize one another. This is the place to break the chains, to reset our limits, to respect faith but remove conventions, to reframe perspectives and redefine percep-tions. This is where we celebrate Christianity.

KCC 2015 will equip you to cast nets over vast seas- transform people, elevate standards, become martyrs and triumph over the world by the name of Jesus Christ. We are called to pave way for generations filled with the Spirit of God.It isn’t for ourselves that we are here today but for the many that we will change.

The logo for KCC 2015 resonates the essence of synchronic Catholic life. The Cross symbolizes the Lord’s invitation for us to become fishers of men, propagators of His word. It rep-resents the richness of exploring the world from a different perspective. It’s a call to follow the Way of the cross. The aesthetic green colour signifies the nature harmonious living and functioning of every Christian. And like it has always been, green also suggests the opulent vegetation of Kerala. The two C shaped flames in red and blue displays the missionary zeal that drives our movement and ministries. KCC expects to generate dynamic leaders with clear vision and under-standing. We also embrace the Pope’s summon to celebrate this year as the Year of Mercy, to our calling to become living signs of love.

LEADER’S POINT

Spirituality unfailingly plays a vital role in the very subsistence of every human being. Notions pertaining to God and religion have always held prime importance in this context. In connection with KCC 2015, a survey was conducted exclusively for the youth during the last few months and we have observed certain trends among the youth. About 58% of the partici-pants believe that God is the kernel of their existence whereas only 34% believe that religion is important for spiritual life. As we further analyze the data collected during this survey, we can easily come to the consensus that we are dealing with a generation which has well defined priorities and set standards. Further as we expand our radius of observation, we find some surprising facts regarding the so called 'new generation', with a negative connotation. One exciting point in this data is that 85% of them do not actually drink or smoke, which indicates their increased awareness on mat-ters regarding health and wellness. Similarly, 68% of them say that they are

proud of their families and value their happiness the most over academ-ics, career and friends. This reveals the values that have been successfully incorporated into their psyche . Social networking which has become one of the prime features of our times has contributed in abundance towards every positive change in this generation, which contradicts popular belief. A good number of people make use of such facilities for the propagation of faith. We can doubtlessly state that almost 77% of the youth today make all crucial decisions especially regarding the courses that they pursue on their own which will decide the course of their lives. They have great plans for settling down and relishing life. We live amongst independent, strong people who have original opinions on all matters of concern. They dream for themselves which acts like fuel for their lives and demand the world to transform for them. They actually do cater a lot of faith and enthusiasm but in a different manner.
