Because there were strict limits on the amount of cash one could bring into the U.S., he sold his assets and made 5 sets of gold teeth. When he arrived in New York the customs official asked him why he had 5 sets of gold teeth. Morris explained that he was kosher and needed one for meat and one for dairy. When asked about the other 3 Morris explained that for Passover he needed another one for dairy and one for meat. The customs agent said, “Ok, but what about the fifth set?” Morris answered, “To be honest, once in a while I like a ham sandwich.” Rabbi Simon JacobSon One of the greatest scholars and sought after speakers in the Jewish world today with his uncanny ability to relate to people of all backgrounds Founder and head of New York City’s The Meaningful Life Center, called the “spiritual Starbucks” by The New York Times Author of best-selling book, Toward a Meaningful Life Lecturer on psycho-spiritual issues and applying Jewish thought to contemporary life Publisher of the Yiddish-English weekly, The Algemeiner Journal by the Devinki/Pack/Kolkin families monday, Dec. 5 7 pm - Free K.i. ISRAEL UPDATE November 18, 2016House of Representatives Overwhelmingly Passes Iran Sanctions Extension ActOn Nov. 15, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the Iran Sanctions Extension Act with a 419-1 vote. Authored by House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) and Ranking Member Eliot Engel (D-NY), the bill would reauthorize the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA) and maintain the United States’ current sanctions architecture on Iran. Initially passed in 1996, ISA targets investments in Iran’s energy sector, the leading segment of the Iranian economy. The legislation is set to expire on Dec. 31, 2016, and must be renewed by Congress to remain in effect. In the upcoming weeks, the Senate is expected to take up this legislation. Members of Congress from both parties praised the passage of the Iran Sanctions Extension Act in the House. “Today’s bipartisan vote will help maintain our ability to immediately reinstate sanctions against Iran over the next decade,” said Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI). “This legislation will ensure that President Obama and his successor will have the full force of sanctions available should Iran violate the nuclear agreement in any way. It’s critical that our approach to Iran remain bipartisan,” echoed House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD).
