White Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies with Sea Salt submitted by Diane Leibel of Malta

INGREDIENTS2cupsflour1 1/2 tsp. baking powder1 tsp. baking soda1/2tsp.fineseasalt3 1/2 sticks butter, cut into 1 inch cubes1 cup sugar1/2 cup brown sugar2 eggs2 tsp. vanilla5 cups old fashioned rolled oats2 cups white chocolate chips1 tsp. sea salt for sprinkling on top

DIRECTIONSInamediumbowl,combineflour,bakingpowder,bakingsoda,andfineseasalt.Inanotherbowlmixbutterandsugarsuntillightandfluffy.Addeggsandvanilla,mixwell.Addflourmixtureandmixjustuntilcombined.Donot over mix. Put dough in refrigerator for at least two hoursorovernight(don’tskipthisstep).Whenreadytobake, preheat oven to 350°, take dough out of refrigerator andletsitfor10-15minutes.Pinchoffsmallamountsofdough and roll into a ball. Place ball of dough on a greased cookies sheet. Press down the center of each ball and sprinkle with a few grains of sea salt on top. Bake for 15-20minutes.Cookiesaredonewhentheyarejustsetand not too brown. Cool on wire rack.

BACKUP POWER CUSTOMER NOTICEBackup Power for Residential Voice Telephone Services during Power Outages: For many years, your home telephone would allow you to stay connected to emergency voice services during a power outage. However, if your residential voice telephone service is providedusingfiberopticsorfixedwirelessratherthanthe traditional copper based line, then your residential voice telephone service requires backup battery power to continue functioning during an outage. To avoid a disruption of home voice service during an outage - and to maintain the ability to connect to 911 emergency services–TriangleCommunicationsprovidesyouwithabattery for the backup power for your residential voice telephone service at the time of the initial installation at no additional cost.

What Your Battery Can - and Can’t - Do for You: The backup battery provided by Triangle Communications forpoweringthefiberopticorfixedwirelessnetworkterminal allows you to continue to use your home voice services during a power outage. Without a backup battery or alternate backup source, such as a generator, customerswithfiberorfixedwirelessbasedresidentialtelephone service will not be able to make any calls, including emergency calls to 911. The only way to maintain the ability to use your telephone is by using some form of backup power.

Our backup battery does not provide power to any servicesotherthanvoice.AllInternetservicesareturnedoffinthenetworkterminalafter5minutesofpower outage to better conserve battery power for voice service. Home security systems, cordless phones, medical monitoring devices and other equipment will not run on a residential voice telephone backup battery.

Replacement Options:Aspreviouslynoted,abackupbattery has been provided by Triangle Communications

during the initial installation. However, the battery provided by our company may need to be replaced every two or three years or when the battery is no longer functioning.

• Triangle Communications provided replacement backup batteries – Triangle Communications will provide and install, at no cost to you, a replacement backup battery, upon appointment, when it becomes knownthatthebatteryneedstobereplaced.Ifyouhave any questions, please call 1-800-332-1201, [email protected] backup batteries to be stored in your home, may be purchased from our company. Our 8 hour backup batteries cost approximately $30 each and can be purchased at our warehouse location in Havre, Montana or one can be shipped directly to your home, for an additional charge.

• Third Party provided spare backup batteries - You can also purchase additional spare backup batteries to keep on hand in your home through many of your local retailers, such as Best Buy or on-line. Please contact our company and we will gladly provide you with the information you need to ensure that you purchase a quality battery model that meets the requirements for powering your network terminal.

Expected Backup Power Duration: Backup batteries are expected to provide at least 8 hours of standby power. The backup battery should give you atleast2hoursoftalktime.Ifyou feel that is not enough time,

you may extend your standby power by purchasing from our company or a third party additional spare 8 hour batteries.

Instructions for Proper Care and Use of Your Battery: Please follow the more detailed instructions included with your battery for proper use, storage and care of your battery to ensure that it will function as needed during a poweroutage.Ifyoudonotstoreyourbatterycorrectly,itmayshortenitsusefullife.Environmentalfactorssuchas temperature can shorten your battery’s useful life. We recommend that you store your battery above 41°F and below 104°F. These batteries are rechargeable. They will not last forever and should be replaced every 2 to 3 years, or when your device starts to make a loud beeping sound. That sound means that the battery is depleted, and must be replaced. You should also periodically, as described in the instructions included with your battery, remove and test your battery to verify both the operation of the backup battery and its condition.

Construction may seem like a strange topic to be discussing in March, but at Triangle, we talk aboutandplanconstructionprojectsallyearlong. Our focus the last few years has been constructingfibertothehomeandIamproudto announce that as of the end of 2017, we have58%ofmemberswithfibertothehomeorbusinesswithaccesstotheInternetandover 51% of our geographic area is covered byfiber.Thatisahugeaccomplishmentfora cooperative with our large serving area.

Wearealreadyworkingonour2018fibertothehomeandbusinessprojects.TriangleplansonupgradingtheexchangesofSimpson,BoxElder,HarlowtonandMelville.

Whydowewanttodeliverfibertoallourmembers?Asacooperative,itisour duty to provide you our member, with the most up to date technology atthebestcostpossible.Fiberdoesjustthat.Fiberisagoodstepintheright direction for future technology. Fiber upgrades are very expensive. Inthepast,TrianglehasbeenabletorelyoncostrecoveryfromUniversalServiceFunds.IfyouhaveattendedeitherofthelasttwoTriangleAnnualMeetings you have heard me talk about how Universal Service Funding is declining. Triangle is being forced to tighten our belt. Your cooperative has takenonthischallengeandwearefindingwaysofkeepingyourqualityof service high and our costs low.

The area where Triangle needs the most help from our members is obtaining rightofwayfortheseprojects.Yourbylawsaddressourrightofway,andsimply stated, by being a member you agree to give Triangle right of way access. Not only for yourself, but for other members whose property may be beyond yours. Having right of way access is an essential piece to keeping cost low and to have access to the availability of technology to help us into the future. We appreciate your cooperation when one of our rightofwayemployeesvisitsyou,aswemoveforwardwithourprojectsthis year and into the future.

Those of us who travel the roadways of north central Montanaarefamiliarwiththenameof“Ezzie’s”.Thelandmark name can be found from Ophiem to Big Sandy atcentersofferingfuel,oil,propane,conveniencestores,fireextinguishersalesandservice,generalagriculturesupplies in addition to truck transports delivering wholesale fuels across state of Montana.

With origins back to 1965 as a commission agent forContinentalOil,companyfounderEzzieEreauxpurchasedthelocalassetsandorganizedEzzie’sWholesale,Inc.withheadquartersinMaltaandTurnerin1978.Lawrence“Lary”Poultonjoinedtheteamofthenfiveemployeesin1983.

AnativeofWinnettandMSUBozemangraduate,Laryand his wife Sue, a school teacher, arrived in Malta 10yearsearlierforajobwiththeFarmersHomeAdministration.Lifewasbusywiththreeyoungchildren,but it had been instilled in Lary to “always become better than we are” and an employment change looked like anopportunity.Laryjestedthat“Ezzienevertooknoforananswer.”Headded,“Ezziewasloyaltohislarge

extended family and the community. He brought that dedicationtoEzzie’sWholesaleandwe’vecontinuedthatwaytodobusiness.”Ezziediedin2004andanewownershipteamwithLaryasmajoritystockholderandcompany lead, took over in early 2005.

ChangewasagainsetinmotioneffectivethispastJanuary with the retirement of Lary. Bill Myers, a ConradnativeandMSUBozemangraduate,isaCPAwith a strong background in technology. Bill is now themajoritystockholderandcompanyPresident.Bill noted his dad was in the fuel business, so he has strong ties to the industry. Bill and his wife Tina have two grown sons.

Intalkingaboutthetransition,bothLaryandBillareproudthatEzzie’sWholesaleremainslocallyownedand controlled. Lary noted that, “We hold true that our employees are our biggest asset and that customer service is what keeps us strong and in the market.”

Billconfirmedthat“customerserviceis#1andthatwon’tchange.Evenwith65employeesthroughoutourlocations,itfeelslikefamily.Manyonstaffarelongtimeemployees.Theycameforajobanditbecametheir career.” Looking forward, Bill is realistic about change. He doesn’t see Tesla or driverless vehicles in our local future, but admitted they will be in the high trafficroutesinMontana.Billadded,“We’renotafraidtochange–we’veseena lot through the years and most has been positive. Most of our business transactions are credit card driven, which mandates high security–it’salwaysa

challenge keeping up with upgrades and technology. WorkingwithhighprofilecompaniessuchasConocoand Phillips 66 mandates a lot of how we do business andITcontractorstypicallycomefromBillingsorMissoula.”Headded,“I’monafirstnamebasiswithseveral Triangle employees and appreciate the high-quality connection and personal attention to our needs.”

Looking at retirement, Lary seemed a bit unsure about leaving as he shared more stories and surveyed themanykeepsakesinhisoffice.Anavidgolfer,hewasparticularlyproudofanEzzie’sWholesalegolfballthatlistedtheirlocations.“AsBillknows,wemakefamilysacrificesworkinginthisindustry.I’mlooking forward to spending more time with them” was his closing comment.

Throughoutmyprofessionalcareer,IcanattesttoLary’s dedication to his rural upbringing and love of community. He has committed many hours to the Malta Chamber of Commerce and regional economic developmenteffortsovertheyears.Istillholddearhis guidance that leadership involves “we” not “me.”

With three kids who are involved in a myriad of activities, Jack and his wife, Kari, are always on the go. He is also the President of the Havre Public Schools EducationFoundation,isalongtimememberoftheTenClubandvolunteerstocoachyouthsports.Inhisspare time, he likes working on remodeling projectsaroundhishouse and tries to get outfishingandhuntingwhen he can. When Jack and his family do take a vacation, they like to spend time in the Swan Valley.
