y mother once bought me a magnet that says, “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.” Well this must be true. All of us make plans and attempt to carry them out according to our own will, mind, thoughts and ideas.

There’s nothing like waking up to what should be a sun shiny morning to find fog blocking your view. Our best-laid plans for life are scattered with storms, u-turns, delays, disappointments. These are things that make life, life.

Think back to a morning when you had to drive through a heavy fog. Recall how difficult it was to see even a few feet ahead of you. Maybe you could make out the shape of cars in oncoming traffic, perhaps if their headlights were on. Other than that, you were forced to rely on your past driving knowledge of that particular road. You knew exactly where the road curved, where the stoplights were, where you needed to turn. This prior knowledge kept you on the road and led you to the other side of the fog.

When we are on life’s road and find ourselves in a rut, sometimes it’s harder to pull ourselves up than we might imagine. Today, you may be in a fog because the cares of this life have weighed you down. You’ve allowed these cares to cloud your view and in your own strength, you are straining to see your way through.

Here are few reminders of ways to look ahead from your situation and keep driving through the fog.

First, acknowledge that you can’t live this life alone. YOU NEED GOD’S

HELP! Admitting we need help can be

difficult, but God is willing, ready and able

to help us. Ask God to guide you through

this fog.

Be Encouraged! Remind yourself of the

last fog you were in and how you came out

on the other side. Remember the ways that

you maneuvered around your obstacles and

succeeded.

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.”

Psalm 121: 1

Secondly, obey the rules of the road even if it looks like it’s not getting better. Do

what God tells you to do. He may ask you

to do something that seems odd, trust His

guidance and obey His voice.

Be Encouraged! God can see above the

fog. He will never ask you to go some-

where that He will not be Himself. He will

never tell you to do something that will not

turn out for your good. He delights in your

success. Practice trusting His voice with

little things, then the big things will be a

breeze.

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the

strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Psalm 73: 26

Last, rest knowing that if God did it once, He will do it again! Relax and

show God that you trust Him by not

worrying. Take heart to the words of the

country singer Carrie Underwood,

“Jesus, Take the Wheel”.

He can handle it.

Be Encouraged! God is an expert at

bringing people out of bad weather! Ask

the Israelites, ask Jonah, ask the disciples,

ask Paul, ask (insert your name here).

“ to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than

the fat of rams.” 1 Samuel 15: 22b.
