THE FRANK KING CUPF
rank was a native Rock man from Tralee and played both Hurling and Football with the AustinStacks Club from 1949 to 1955. Then, on marriage to Peggy O’Sullivan from Ballyduff hewent to reside in Ballyduff for a few years and worked in the family business there. He played
Senior Hurling with Ballyduff and, won two Senior County Championships with them in 1959 and1960. He won Tralee divisional championships, the Houlihan-McCarthy Cup, with Austin Stacksand he was a selector with The Rock when they won the All Ireland Club title in 1977. He took over as County Chairman in 1979 and during his eight year tenure he presided over agolden era in Kerry football. His greatest influence however was at ground level where hisdignified encouragement was a huge boost to less talented players. In 1991, his wife Peggy and family presented a Cup in his honour to the Kerry County Board andit is presented each year to the winners of the Minor Football Championship.
