KCS VACATION CARE Schools out and it’s time to have fun at Vacation Care. Our program of fun and educational activities is developed based on experience, feedback and suggestions from our educators, families and most importantly the children who attend our service. As well as engaging and stimulating in-centre activities, we offer themed activity days, fun and educational excursions and incursions in a safe environment that encourages children to make new friends and try new things. PLEASE NOTE: Children can only attend an excursion if a parent/guardian has signed the excursion permission form. Excursion places are limited; please book early to avoid disappointment and check your booking confirmation email to see if your child has secured a place on their preferred excursion. KCS VACATION CARE Schools out and it’s time to have fun at Vacation Care.

Our program of fun and educational activities is developed based on experience, feedback and suggestions from our educators,

families and most importantly the children who attend our service.

As well as engaging and stimulating in-centre activities, we offer themed activity days, fun and educational excursions and incursions

in a safe environment that encourages children to make new friends and try new things.

PLEASE NOTE:

Children can only attend an excursion if a parent/guardian has signed the excursion permission form.

Excursion places are limited; please book early to avoid disappointment and check your booking confirmation email to see if your

child has secured a place on their preferred excursion.

Preparing your child for the program:

Vacation Care runs from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm and is held at MacKenzie Hall, Carlton South Public School, with entrance via

Ecole Street;

If your child/ren has Asthma &/or Anaphylaxis you will need to check in with the Responsible Person on duty on your

child’s first day of care and:

Provide an epi pen; and/or

Show that they have an asthma puffer safely & conveniently stored in their bag.

Please pack a healthy morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea in a cooler bag with a frozen drink/ice pack inside (no nut

products e.g. Nutella, sweets or junk food) – Breakfast is provided until 8:00 am daily

We are a sun-safe service. Children must: bring a hat every day; wear a shirt with sleeves (no singlets) please apply

sunscreen and if attending a swimming or water play program bring a sun safe (rashie or shirt).

For safety children should wear enclosed shoes every day to play sports or go on excursions.

If your child is attending an excursion please ensure they bring a water bottle and small backpack to carry their lunch, hat,

raincoat and any other items.

We are located at Carlton South Public School, Ecole St. Carlton, New South Wales.

Hours: 7am to 6pm during vacation care.

Child Care Subsidy (CCS): we are a registered service provider, so families will be able to claim CCS on their daily fee and in-centre

IN CENTRE Mini Olympics Day

Celebrate cultures and sports from around the world at our Mini Olympics Day. Everyone is asked to wear their favourite sporting outfits.

Cricket Program

The Cricket program is aimed at developing basic skills and abilities necessary for the sport of cricket whilst also providing a fun and enjoyable atmosphere.

EXCURSION

Bush Walk, Park Play & Pizza

Lunch @ Carss Park

(5 - 12 years old) Travel by KCS bus to Carss Park for an action packed outdoor day. Whilst at the park children will have the chance to go on a nature bush walk, be involved in exciting group games and also have plenty of free time to play in the park. The visit to the park will also include a pizza lunch. A great excursion for children to explore the natural environment around their local community.

IN CENTREAmazing Race & Jelly Face

The Amazing Race will have children racing through a large variety of different activities and challenges to see which team can get to the end first!!! The day will also include a hands free jelly eating competition so please bring an old shirt to protect your clothes.

World Smile Day We ask that all children come dressed in yellow to celebrate World Smile Day. The day will include making a smile mug that will be shared with a member of the local community plus a yummy smile cookie activity.

Planetarium Exploration @

Sydney Observatory

(5 - 8 years & 9 - 12 years)

Enjoy 90 minutes tour of the Sydney Observatory where you will learn about astronomy and peer through the giant telescope. Children will have the opportunity to try the astronaut obstacle course.

Children will travel in 2 separate groups based on their age.

Movies & Lunch @ Hurstville

Westfield (9 - 12 years old)

Movies (TBA) Walk to Carlton Station then travel by train to Hurstville Westfield’s for lunch in the food court before watching a latest release movie. Lunch is included in cost, and children are permitted to bring extra spending money on the day. Children will foster social skills by sharing an experience with their friends.

IN CENTREKCS Guinness World Records

Day

Can you stand on one leg for 3 minutes? Can you eat a dry Weetabix in less than a minute? Today children will test their skills against the world’s best records. See if you can break a record and have your name recorded in our KCS Guinness Book of Records!

Wheels Day

Bring your bike or scooter along today for Wheels Day. A number of activities will be set up such as an obstacle course. Children need to be confident riders (no training wheels please), and must bring their own bike or scooter, helmet and wear enclosed shoes.

EXCURSION

Zoo Visit @ Australian Reptile

Park (5 - 12 years old)

Australian reptile park is a hands on zoo located in the natural bush settings of Gosford. Come and see Australian native animals. Enjoy the live animal shows including the Galapagos tortoise feeding, koala feeding and the crocodile show, etc.

Intergenerational Music Program

– KCS’s Got Talent Everybody has

their own talents and today is the time to show them off! Please bring costumes if required. Our Seniors will act as judges and prizes will be presented for the best 3 performers.

Junior Master Chef

Develop your cooking skills by making Japanese sushi rolls. The food will be served to all to try at afternoon tea.

EXCURSION

Trampoline Park @ Skyzone Miranda (8 - 12 years old) Travel by train to Skyzone Miranda Westfield for a fun game of 1-hour Sky Climbing and 1-hour Jumping. Children will build their confidence and learn new skills.

Travel by KCS bus to Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre for Visual Arts (Street Art Workshop). Followed by a visit to the new Casula Parklands adventure play space including ninja exercise course, eight-metre-high sky walk, double flying fox, etc.

Gardening & Sustainability

Participate in the construction of our new garden. Children will learn skills in gardening and sustainability.

Today we will be having our very own rock climbing wall which is suitable for all ages. All children attending today will have the opportunity to challenge themselves to see how high they can climb.

Enjoy 3-hours interactive playing arena and state of the art equipment which takes the game of laser tag to a new and exciting level including giant slides, bouncy castles, tea cup ride, huge climbing structure, 8 metre high rock wall, etc.

Celebrate the end of vacation care with giant inflatable slide, jumping castle & Carnival Day. Children will receive tokens at the beginning of the day which they will be able to use at the various stands. The day will also include OZ Tag activities and a big game.

Hunt Experience Sydney

(8 - 12 years old)

Travel by train to the Escape Hunt Experience Sydney to compete in teams to figure out all the clues to escape the room in the quickest time. A great chance for children to build on their problem solving skills and social interaction skills.

to your booking being processed. Please call us if you wish to discuss this further.

Please note we reserve the right to review a child’s access to all or part of the Vacation Care program if their behaviour

affects their safety or the safety of other children or KCS Educators.

Booking forms can be downloaded from www.kogarahcommunity.org.au and completed electronically, or by hand and

emailed to [email protected] faxed to 9587 7925; or handed to the Responsible Person in charge at the Centre.

Bookings can be made online via the My Family Lounge parent portal – an updated Enrolment form must be submitted

before parents can access online bookings. For bookings completed online an Excursion Permission Form will still meed to

be submitted.

Agreement

I agree to abide by KCS Children’s Services policies and information outlined in the Family Handbook. Any updates/changes will be communicated by me as they occur. Copies of the handbook and policies are available at the Service and on the website www.kogarahcommunity.org.au

I agree to meet the cost of Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) for which I have enrolled my child/ren including any additional activity costs as required. I understand that care for my child/ren may be cancelled if I do not pay my fees as required. A full schedule of fees is available form our website www.kogarahcommunity.org.au

If my child/ren has a medical condition and/or requires medication to be administered, I agree to notify the Responsible Person, complete the authorization to administer medication forms and provide appropriately prescribed and labelled medications within expiry dates.

I have provided KCS with appropriate forms/documents required e.g. court orders, anaphylaxis /asthma management plans, immunization details, and notifications from the Department of Human Services relating to the care of my children. I agree to update these forms/documents as needed and in due course.

I will not hold KCS or its staff responsible for personal possessions including toys and electronic games that my children choose to bring to OSHC.

I understand my child/ren’s participation in these activities is voluntary and not compulsory and I undertake to inform KCS if my child/ren is/are unable to fully participate in the regular recreational activities programmed and delivered within OSHC.

I acknowledge that the information provided during enrolment is to be used solely for the purpose of providing OSHC for my child/ren but may be released when legally required to do so.

I acknowledge that in accordance with the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011, Division 4, No. 94—Exception to Authorization Requirement— Anaphylaxis or Asthma Emergency, medication may be administered to a child without authorization in the case of an anaphylaxis or asthma emergency.

I understand that KCS may screen movies for program and/or education purposes and I agree to allowing my child/ren to watch movies evaluated by KCS as appropriate and of a classification of “G” or “PG” under the Australian Classification Board.

I understand that for program and/or education purposes, materials may be used including but not limited to, face paint, hairspray and other coloring materials. I agree to read the details of the programs and clarify with KCS if necessary before giving my consent to my child/ren’s participation in these programs.
