Constructions and Engineers Limited and is now a

wholly owned subsidiary of Kirloskar Brothers

At Kirloskarwadi, foundry set-up is equipped with a

centralised pattern shop, mechanised sand processing

system, automatic moulding machines and metal

pouring system. There are independent units for cast

iron, alloy steel and non-ferrous metals. The cast iron

foundry is capable of producing a single casting

weighting up to 7,000 kg and the steel foundry unit

can produce castings of special alloy steels of

international standards. Total production capacity of

foundries is 1,400 tons per month.

Major achievement

In Egypt

Over 100,000 Kirloskar pumpsets have been working

along the river Nile greening the desert in Egypt for

the past 30 years. A total of 40 pumping stations with

Kirloskar pumps have been responsible for the

reclamation of nearly 200,000 acres (80,000 hectares)

of desert land for agriculture.

In LAO PDR

KBL has been responsible for green revolution in

some ASEAN countries. For instance in Lao PDR, the

irrigated area in 1996 was about 15,000 hectares and

today with the help of Kirloskar pumpsets the irrigated

area has increased 15 times. Correspondingly the rice

production has gone up 25 times to 2 million tones

making Lao PDR not only self sufficient in food

production but also enabling export to other countries.
