Chemical-Analytical Center consists of:

Mobile Environmental Laboratory (MEL);

Testing Laboratory (Aktau, branch at Tengiz field).

Hydrobiological Laboratory (Almaty, branch at Atyrau city)

Laboratories are accredited in accordance with the «GOST ISO/IEC

17025-2009 - General requirements for competence of testing and

calibration laboratories».

STAFF

The laboratory employs 74 highly qualified specialists : leading chemical

engineer, quality manager, HSE engineer, instrumentation and automation

engineer, chemical engineers, chemists, senior key specialists.

All the specialists have been trained at seminar «GOST ISO/IEC 17025-

2009 - General requirements for competence of testing and calibration

laboratories» and «Features of accreditation of laboratories for ST RK

ISO/IEC 17025-2007. Evaluation of measurement uncertainty».

All engineers, chemists and technicians have been trained at CIKV in Saint-

Petersburg, Russia in methods of work using measuring instruments

produced by «Agilent Technologies».

SCOPE OF ACCREDITATION OF MEL

Objects of analysis:

Sample collection: drinking water, natural water (surface

and groundwater), wastewater (before and after

treatment);

Sample collection: ground (soils and bottom sediments);

Atmospheric air of residential and sanitary protection

zones;

Air of operational areas;

Industrial emissions in the atmosphere;

Emissions from motor vehicles.

SCOPE OF ACCREDITATION OF TL

Natural, drinking and waste water:

Sample collection, total mineralization, pH, fluoride, sulfates, chlorides,

phosphates, nitrates, nitrites, ammonium nitrogen, COD, BOD5, petroleum

products (hydrocarbons), phenol and phenol derivatives, organochlorine

pesticides, volatile organohalogen compounds, heavy metals, surface-active

agents (surfactants), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), etc.

Atmospheric air of residential and sanitary protection zones:

Sample collection, meteorological parameters, formaldehyde, phenol, hydrogen sulfide, PAHs, aliphatic and aromatic amines, nitrogen oxide and nitrogen dioxide, methanol, methyl mercaptan, sulfur dioxide, dust, gamma-emitting radionuclides, etc.

Atmospheric air and the air of operational areas:

Ozone, nitrogen oxides, hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, petroleum hydrocarbons (C12-C19), hydrocarbons (methane), methane, methyl mercaptan, ethyl mercaptan, phenols, formaldehyde, synoptic parameters and etc.

SCOPE OF ACCREDITATION OF TL

Soils and bottom sediments:

Sample collection, Granulometric composition, pH (water extract), carbonates

and bicarbonates, sulfates, chlorides, nitrates, calcium, potassium, sodium,

magnesium, hydrogen sulfide, petroleum products (hydrocarbons), phenol and

phenol derivatives, organochlorine pesticides, polychlorinated biphenyls, heavy

metals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), gamma-emitting

radionuclides, etc.

Production facilities of enterprises (workplaces):

Noise, vibration, light, electric field, magnetic flux density, intensity of

electromagnetic field of industrial frequency, intensity of electrostatic field.

Quality Control

Sampling:

Quality of laboratory utensils cleanness (ISO compliance, all containers are

preliminary decontaminated in laboratory, test report is submitted), multiple-

use equipment is decontaminated;

Blind sampling program, rinseate samples, replicate samples, blank sample,

blank transportation sample;

Calibration and adjustment of instruments with use of second source materials

(before and after measurements);

Quality certificates issued by manufacturers of chemical reagents (highly

purified material, reagent-grade, analytical reagent) used for equipment

decontamination or sample preservation;

Strict observance of SOP of sampling and equipment decontamination

(deactivation) between sampling points location;

Quality Control

Laboratory work :

Measuring instruments are registered in the RK Register and calibrated;

Quality Certificates issued by manufacturers of chemical reagents (highly purified

material, reagent-grade, analytical reagent), used for testing;

Ready solvents expiration period shall not be longer than expiry period established

by manufacturer;

Calibration and adjustment of instruments with use of second source materials;

Minimum number of initial calibration points is 5, linearity is determined by R2

factor;

During measurement process one point of calibration curve (median) is checked

every 10 measurements (CCV);

In addition, blank sample (BLK) and laboratory control sample (LCS) are prepared.

The Hydrobiological Laboratory has its subdivisions

in the cities of Almaty and Atyrau.

It has been accredited for compliance with

of testing and calibration laboratories”

The scope of accreditation includes:

1. Sampling of surface water, sea bed sediments

and soil.

2. Analyzing and characterization of the following:

Taxonomic composition, abundance and biomass of

phytoplankton, zooplankton, periphyton,

macrozoobenthos and ichthyofauna;

Functional area:

• State environmental monitoring on the shelf of the Caspian

Sea;

• Assessment of the state of bioresources of the Kazakhstani

part of the Caspian Sea;

• Analysis of hydrological regime impact on the ingress of

toxicants in the Irtysh, Ili, Syr-Darya, Tobol, Yesil, Shu and

Talas transboundary rivers and on the formation and

condition of biological resources...;

Orders are fulfilled under contracts with oil companies,

such as NCOC, Caspian Meruerty Operating Company BV,

Kurmangazy Petroleum, Kaztransoil and etc.
