PORTFOLIOKATRINA AASLAID

My name is Katrina Aaslaid and I am a 23 year old, living in Copenhagen Denmark and this my portfolio.

I am dependable: someone who can take a task and make it happen. I am versatile: companies always have so much to do. I only have two hands, but I love to use them wherever the help is needed. I am resil-ient: The more daring I become, the more resilient I strive to be. It’s never about how hard you fall, it’s about how quick you get back up.

I love to travel: I love new experiences, be-cause they help shape who I am. I love to communicate with customers: I make sure that I work on something I love, but the real satisfaction comes from knowing that I’ve made someone else love it too.

So in conclusion: I am searching for a cre-ative enviroment, where I can meet new enthusiastic people and improve my skills.

Have a look at some of the things I have done so far!

HEY THERE!

This was a 1,5 year programme at Køben-havns Erhvervsakademi in Copenhagen.

The programme tought me about strategic concept development of e-shops, e-con-cept and e-marketing together with the management of e-shops and e-commerce portals.

Furthermore, the education qualifies me to work within strategic development of communication and design concepts for interactive digital solutions for advertising

agencies with a digital profile and e-com-merce, web and design agencies.

During the programme I had subjects such as: Design, Digital Communication, Media Technologies, E-Commerce and Market-ing.

I had 3 semesters in total, the last one whas where I had my internship and had to write my bachelors, which was about my intern-ship, but more about that in this portfolio.

3 offers attractive and innovative services. One of their new products is 3split, which the company is trying to promote on the B2B market.

It has already been on the B2B market for a year and has been tested on a large company (Copenhagen Airport), but not promoted. Information about this product can only be found on their website, on the business page or by calling the company about it.

3split is a product that makes it possible to split the invoice into two: one part is paid by the com- pany and the other by the employee.

7

3Business asked us to create awareness and interest about this product and to generate leads for their sales departments. This was done by our group creating a campaign, where all media channels were connected.

We chose to do a campaign that consisted of: PR, Advertising and Event Marketing. We also chose to do a microsite, which explained the product, which was basical-ly an infographic that showed the target group how much money they were saving.

3BUSINESS - 3SPLIT

Wemind is a consultancy company found in 2005

Through the time the company passed through different phases, from a small so-cial media agency to a complex business consultancy company. In 2013 they adopted the tagline “Involve and grow” and with it their purpose be-came to boost growth in organiza-tions through innovative involvement of stake-holders and influencers. With the brief they asked us for the way to wonderland: a new approach, a new idea, a new identity, but even more a way to let companies willing to use Wemind help them Unboss.

The Unboss leadeship philosophy is what makes Wemind different from other con-sultancy companies. Our proposal was to

9

create a movement for Unboss, through event marketing, social media and word of mouth.

Briefly about our idea: it all starts out with a box, which is sent to the target group. It contains an invitation to an event, a bro-chure to be more exact. At the organized event, which is called: Involve & Grow: Dare to Unboss, there would be inspiring speakers talking about how they are using the Unboss approach.

This would lead to an Unboss day that would be carried out every second week for 3 months. The 3 companies that were chosen in the event would be the ones ready for the new movement. Everything would be documented, blogged about etc. A documentary would be made at the end of the process for everyone to see how well this movement works.

Falck Healthcare is the leading provider in Denmark for healthcare within preven-tion, treatment and rehabilitation.

Falck Healthcare has around 80 percent of the market in Denmark, but their competi-tors are more agile and innovative, thereby being a threat in the future development, that counters the digitalization of health-care solutions.

Falck Healthcare wanted us to create a communication strategy to improve rela-tions with current customers and attract new leads by delivering a consistent mes-sage throughout the digital platforms. By analysing their current message we dis-covered the need to shift the communi-

11

cation from a brand oriented perspective to a customer oriented one. Based on the insights we decided to focus on digital el-ements combined with sponsorship and direct marketing. The base of the solution had to be implemented first, by setting up a blog, social media pages, email market-ing, Adwords and LinkedIn Ads. Also, we strongly recommended to review the web-site through an SEO perspective, as the homepage and category pages are poorly optimised for search engines.

Innovation Embassy is an innovation and co-creation company for the people and businesses, who want to co-create new in-novations for a local or global audience.

Innovation Embassy needed a visual iden-tity for a product called Co-CreationCards, which is complemented by paid work-shops.

From our insight we discovered that mo-tivation is key when engaging players in games related to innovation. Therefore we believe that Innovation Embassy needs to implement the basis of games to the “Co-creation Cards”. Due to the fact that the game not only relies on creativity and in-

13

novation, but as well in gamification. Fol-lowing and experiencng the game, the team, which I was part of for this project, designed a visual identity that would fit the players needs and thereby what Inno-vation Embassy aims: boost the co-cre-ative process when a team is collaborating in a project.

services, such as: social media marketing, consultation, Facebook campaigns etc.The second internship was very different, me and two of my colleagues from the E-Concept Development course thought about having an internhsip as entrepre-neurs. We wanted to go through the pro-cess of building a startup from scratch and that is how a company called TheDugnad was born.

During my studies I had to have two intern-ships, both of them for at least 3 months.

First one was in Estonia Tallinn, at a social media company called 7BLAZE, where I was a designer and a content writer. I did this internship during my studies at the University College of Northern Denmark, when I was studying Multimedia Design & Communication.

7BLAZE is a web agency that mostly focus-es on social media. They offer a variety of

HEKK is a portable hookah, launched in 2012.

This was a facebook campaign for a compa-ny called “HEKK” in Estonia, Tallinn. They were also one of the clients of 7BLAZE and that is how this project got in my hands.

HEKK wanted to promote their new hoo-kah’s through a Facebook campaign. To be more exact, there were six new colors for their product and they wanted to know which one was the best one. An applica-tion on Facebook was made, where peo-ple could like their favorite hookah, share it and maybe win it. I was the one respon-

sible making the application design that I handed over to the developer. I also had to write content for the posts during the campaign, along with designing pictures with the posts. At the end of the campaign I had also the responsiblity to pick out the winners and announce them.

It was a fun project, the customer was a very friendly and young guy who gave me a lot of great feedback. The customer was very happy with the results.

Universaal Universum is a store that offers a wide selection of exotic musical instru-ments, Egyptian waterpipes and tobacco, furniture and jewellery.

This was a facebook campaign for a store called “Universaal Universum” in Estonia, Tallinn. They were also one of the clients of 7BLAZE and that is how I got this cus-tomer.

Universaal Universum wanted to promote their new drums through a Facebook cam-paign. During this process an application was made, where people were able to lis-ten to four drums and pick their favorite to win it.

I also had to write content for the store and design all the posts that were post-ed during the campaign. At the end of the campaign I again had to pick out the winners and announce them on their Facebook page.

The customer sent me all the design prin-ciples that I had to stick to, so I could not be that creative in the process, but over-all it was also a fun project.

Our concept was simple: to be a co-cre-ation platform for internationals.

DESCRIPTION: We were building a plat-form for people settling in a new country to meet like-minded people and work on projects that they find exciting, that bring value to another.

MISSION: We want people to continue working on their great ideas or projects after moving to a new country. We will help people in gathering the right teams and give advice on where to look for fur-ther help.

THEDUGNAD - STUDENT STARTUP

The Multimedia Design & Communication programme was a 2-year full time higher education programme at the University College of Northern Denmark at Aalborg.

This programme enabled me to work with both the analytical and practical sides of multimedia production.

A multimedia designer is an academic craftsman. During the programme I worked with all the relevant aspects concerning multimedia productions: strategy and mar-

ket analysis, A/V productions, design of user interfaces, and programming the end result that is published on the Internet.

This is where I realised the subjects that I am mostly into and that is why I picked E-concept Development after Multimedia.

MULTIMEDIA DESIGN & COMMUNICATION

Wellhealth SPA was a project I had to do at the University College Of Northern Den-mark.

This was a project where me and my group had to try and code a website for the first time. We had to design everything, figure out the content on the website, the visual identity and then launch it on the Internet. This was not for a real SPA, the teachers came up with the idea to show us the pro-cess of making a website.

I was in a team with three other girls and I remember this being the first big project,

25

where we had to put all our skills and what we had learned into action. This was on the first semester of Multimedia Design.

Overall it was a good project with some struggles, but because I was part of good team it all went well without any argu-ments.

Taverna Zorba is a Greek restaurant in Aal-borg.

This was my final project before graduat-ing at UCN to get my AP Degree. Me and my classmate had to find a company that would let us make them a website. We found a small Greek restaurant in Aalborg that was very interested.

I have also done two photoshoots. First one was in 2011. I wanted to test out a cam-era I borrowed, because I wanted to edit pictures, but I wanted them to be my own. My beautiful friends agreed on posing for me and I ended up with amazing pictures.

Here are all the pictures: http://bit.ly/1z7ZoWQ

The second time was in 2012 and that was for a coffee company called: EightPoint-Nine. It is a company that only sells coffee

on their website. The owner of the com-pany found me online and contacted me. I agreed on helping them out with their social media page. EighPointNine needed a new Facebook cover photo so I ended up having a photoshoot with coffee that was sent to me. A very strange, but cool experience and free coffee that was really good.

Here is the cover photo that they decided to use: http://on.be.net/1AohwSP
