They enjoyed play time on the fixed playground equipment and sandpit. The children then engaged in fun learning and art & craft with the K/1 class and the year five students who are their buddies. It was wonderful to see the confidence and smiles on all their faces. School Photographs: On Monday 9/11/2020 the School Photographer will be attending the school. Please ensure your child is in full school uniform, this includes plain socks and black shoes, school colored hair bands, no mufti coloured bands etc. Class group photographs will be taken outdoors, weather permitting. Individual student and sibling photos will be taken indoors in the library. 2021: Please ensure you notify the school as soon as possible if there are any changes to your child’s enrolment, or if you have a new student commencing. Student numbers impact on staffing and class arrangements/ structures and this is the time of year when we begin preliminary planning for 2021. We hear lots of things from our students and the teacher or office staff will contact you to confirm if required. Informing the school earlier assists us greatly. There are many activities and events occurring over these last few weeks of our school year. Please check the information in our newsletter and calender, notes home and school facebook page. Mrs Malone does a fabulous job of posting events, reminders and posts of school activities. Reminder: Please note there have been no changes to guidelines in regards to non-essential adults on school sites. No parents/carers or other visitors are to come into the school grounds unless you are picking up your sick child from school, in this case you present at the front office to collect your child. If your child is unwell, even mild symptoms they must remain at home. If your child has cold/flu symptoms they are required to get the COVID test and provide the school with the negative result before returning, once they are well. Remembrance Day: Wednesday 11 th November. A brief service will be held at our school next Wednesday to commemorate and remember those who served and gave their lives in conflict over the years.

Principal's Message

Giinagay, Hello

NAIDOC Week is occurring next week: 8th – 15th November and is an opportunity for all Australians to come together to celebrate the rich history, diverse cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the oldest continuing cultures on the planet. This year’s theme is “Always Was, Always Will Be” acknowledging this nation’s story began at the dawn of time and didn’t begin with documented European contact. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace and acknowledge the true history of this country – a history which dates back thousands of generations.

The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples and we have maintained ongoing spiritual and cultural

connections to the land and sea. All Australians should celebrate that we have the world’s oldest oral stories and that our First Peoples engraved the world’s first maps, made the earliest paintings of ceremonies, invented unique technologies and built and engineered structures that predate well-known ancient sites such as the Egyptian pyramids or Stonehenge. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, our first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, astronomers and artists. It’s about seeing, hearing and learning the 65,000+ year history of this country – a country that was criss-crossed by generations of brilliant Nations. For further information on the NAIDOC 2020 theme please visit: https://www.naidoc.org.au/get-involved/2020-theme

Karangi Public School will celebrate NAIDOC Day on Friday 13th November with the students engaging in a number of planned activities on the day. The students will be permitted to wear mufti in the colours of the Aboriginal flag: red, yellow, black. No general mufti, if your child does not wish to wear these colors they wear their school uniform. Yaari Yarraang Sharon Rovere Principal.
