Background

• 2005 – State Identifiers (SSID) were assigned for all PK-12 students

• 2006 – Kansas Individual Data on Students (KIDS) student level data collection system was implemented– Assign and track SSIDs as students enter

and move throughout the state

– Collect and manage core student data (Master Data source for student demographics)

Background

• 2007 – Kansas funded KSDE’s initial development of the Enterprise Data System (EDS)– included establishing a Data Warehouse

with longitudinal, integrated, and time variant data across the PK-12 education enterprise

• Through federal grants, KSDE has now expanded the EDS – incorporates postsecondary data

– BI reporting solution to provide information back to education stakeholders: System for Education Enterprise in Kansas (SEEK)

• Built as a “by-product” of SFSF metrics C(11) and C(12)

• Sourced from our PK-20 Data Mart• Initial design/content based on

– research of what other states are doing– available data

• Provided by KSDE and accessed via existing authenticated BI solution– Not an annual published report– Dynamically generated customizable view

based on parameter selection

• Purpose - To inform and aid school and district policy and decision makers by providing information about high school graduates, including the number who matriculated to a postsecondary institution, while noting how well they performed compared to their peers from the district and the state as a whole.
