Fabric FeaturesFabrics have natural characteristics which should be carefully considered. To select the right fabricfor you please refer to the fabric glossary (right).• Delicate fabrics such as velvets and chenille’s exhibit shading variations, crushing, lines

and bruising, which create unique features.• Fabrics with a linen and/or cotton content can pill and have fine threads visible. Some

may display slub characteristic effects and may include occasional seeds and husks. • Linen has a natural tendency to crease which enhances its textural appearance, creases

will soften as the fabric relaxes in use. Pilling can occasionally occur in early stages of use, which is a feature of such fabrics.

• Fabrics selected for upholstered products may adopt a slightly different texture and appearance from those purchased by the metre due to fire resistant processing. They are natural or normal characteristics which do not affect product quality.

DurabilityConsider how much use your Product will receive and select a fabric suitable for your needs. The durability of each fabric is graded as: General domestic – for general/ frequent use, unlessmarked as light domestic where it is suitable for light infrequent use.

Take extra care with sharp objects, such as studs and belt buckles as these can snag even thetoughest of fabrics.

Using Your Own Upholsterer• Fabric suitability should be checked carefully before cutting and upholstering as we are

unable to take responsibility for third party costs once upholstered

• Most fabrics have a maximum length of 17m so for lengths greater than this check colour compatibility carefully.

• For upholstering, all fabrics require a fire retardant barrier interliner, compliant with schedule 3 of the safety regulations; use a reputable upholsterer who should advise.

LINEN/L INEN BLENDS†These fabrics feature a high linen contentwhich can pill and have fine threads visible,some also have a textured linen blend withcharacteristic ‘slub’ effect. These are not a signof premature wear but natural characteristicswhich do not affect durability. Linen has anatural tendency to crease which enhances itstextural look. Creases will soften as the fabricrelaxes in use. As linen is a natural fabric therewill be slight colour variations between batches.
