Congratulations! #1 - Regional Final Premier’s Spelling Bee Our congratulations this week go to students - Willow Connellan, Emily Large and Jocelyn Cafe, who competed in the Regional Final of the Premier’s Spelling Bee at Blayney Public School on Monday. Reports back to me, say that it was a great day (even thought Blayney turned on it's signature weather) and there was some strong competition. Poppy Kay from Orange Public School won the Junior Section after 2 hours and 15 minutes of competition. The Senior winner, Shelley Keith from Wattle Flat Public School, was competing in the competition for a staggering 16 rounds. The coordinator said that student behaviour was fantastic on the day and he sent his thanks to Kandos Public School for sending such great students. # 2 - Bake a Book Winners Congratulations to everyone who entered the recent Book Week Bake-a- Book Competition. All students who entered this competition received a prize at the Fathers’ Day Assembly. All students, staff and visitors cast a vote for their favourite cake on the day. Congratulations and well done to the following top chefs - Sophie Godwin (First Place), Jocelyn Cafe (Second Place) and to Sheniqua Kennedy (Third Place). Assembly - 13/9 An Assembly will be held this Friday, 13th September, in the Multi Purpose Hall at 12.30pm. Class 2/3 Wombats will be organising and running this assembly. All are welcome to attend. Australian Reading Hour - 19/9 Kandos Public School will be celebrating Australian READING HOUR on Thursday 19th September, by buddy reading in the morning followed by simultaneous class reads on every Smart Board!

Farewell On Monday, we farewelled teacher, Mrs Tincknell, as she left to commence Maternity Leave. We have passed on our best wishes to Mr and Mrs Tincknell and we look forward to receiving baby news early in Term 4. Teacher, Mrs Kym Kennedy, who has shared the teaching on Class 5/6 Quolls with Mrs Tincknell this year, will now be full time on this class.

Early Start Next Wednesday, 18th September, will be the last Early Start session for Term 3. Early Start will resume on Wednesday, 23rd October (Week 2, Term 4).

ROALD DAHL’S REVOLTING RHYMES

EXCURSION PAYMENTS

A reminder to parents that payments for the upcoming Primary excursion to the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre to see the performance of Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes (Wednesday, 25th September) will need to be finalised by this Friday, 13th September. The school will be confirming numbers for this excursion next week.

On Thursday September 19, 2019, stop what you’re doing for one hour and pick up a

book. This is an opportunity for Australians to either rediscover or introduce themselves

to the benefits of reading. Take the time to learn, escape and relax.

In children, reading has been shown to help

with identity formation, setting them up for success in the future. In adults, reading has

been shown to reduce stress by 68% more than listening to music, going for a walk, or

having a cup of tea.
