School Photos Kanahooka High School photos will be taken on Friday 22 June.
Students have already been issued with their envelopes marked with their name and ID.
They must bring their envelope whether they are purchasing a photo or not for the attendance system. Spare envelopes can be obtained from the office.
Students must wear full school uniform and ensure that their white shirt is clean for the head and shoulders photo.
Please avoid excessively large jewellery, beads, black neck bands and extreme hairdos as this spoils the overall package.
If you would like a siblings or friends photo, then please book a timeslot with Mrs Sutherland in the PE staffroom.
All money is handled by MSP Photography, a local company in Dapto. Late orders may incur a small fee.

Parent Teacher Interviews Tuesday 26 June 2012 Students were issued on Monday 18 June with their Parent Teacher Interview booking sheet. Students are to make bookings with the relevant teachers. All visitors to the school are required to sign in at the Library and sign out before they leave the premises.
If this day is not convenient, parents can still contact teachers to discuss concerns regarding their child's progress.
This is a great opportunity for parents and teachers to communicate and build a partnership in educating children.

Laptop Stocktake Year 10, 11 and 12 students need to bring their laptops in for stocktake. They are not to be handed to Mr Harding but students need to log on to the network in the school for approximately an hour. This needs to be done before the end of the month, otherwise they will need to be physically inspected at the start of Term 3 leaving students without their laptops.
Mr Harding ,Technology Support Officer
Literacy and Numeracy News In literacy and numeracy, Year 7 have been and are continuing to be assisted by faculty programs and two programs called Reading On and Counting On.
Kanahooka High School’s literacy and numeracy team assisted Year 9 students through a whole
school program. In this program, the identified areas for improvement from the students’ Year 7 NAPLAN results were addressed by Year 9 teachers. Lessons were explicitly taught to Year 9.
One strategy developed by the team and delivered and marked by teachers across the KLAs was the persuasive writing task. Twenty five students achieved excellence in their persuasive writing tasks across the faculties. On 29 May, Kanahooka High School hosted a morning tea at which the students were presented with their certificates by the P&C president, Judy Bertinato.
Congratulations to these students.
Mrs O’Sullivan, Deputy Principal
White Card for Construction Congratulations to 19 students from Kanahooka High School who recently completed their White Card Training, delivered at the school by Skills West Training Company. The White Card is essential for anyone wishing to work or undertake Work Experience in the Construction Industry. This includes many different trade areas. Having the White Card is highly regarded by employers, as it demonstrates that the student is serious about their career and willing to undertake necessary training. The 19 students and their parents and guardians should be commended for recognising the importance of safety in the workplace. The White Card will be delivered again at the school in Term 3. Please see Ms Phelan if you wish to participate.

Last Friday we had another successful SRC Mufti day and raised over $300. Thank you to all those who donated a gold coin, it was a small token of generosity but together it makes a big difference. We also need to make a special mention of all those who were brave and dressed up. We had some wild rockers turn up on the day such as ZZ Tops, Janis Joplin, Johnny Cash......and whoever Dave was!! You know it’s going to be a good day when the field is being mowed by a guy in a sparkling blue vinyl suit! It is efforts like this that ensures an enjoyable day for all involved. Grant Knowles
