It has been 50 years since Th e Zombies hit the stage in St. Albans, England. Th is began their lengthy rock journey that has taken them all over the world, undergone many

lineup changes, and produced countless, hugely successful hits. On October 12th, Th e Zombies along with special guests: Acoustic Strawbs, will hit the stage at the Kamloops Convention Centre to showcase how the last half century has paid off for them.

Comprised of two original members: Colin Blunstone (lead vocals), and Rod Argent (organ, vocals), as well as newcomers Tom Toomey (guitar, vocals), Jim Rodford (bass, vocals), and Steve Rodford (drums), Th e Zombies have seen much commercial

success. Countless of their hits have been covered by the likes of Tom Petty, Juice Newton, Dave Matthews Band and the Foo Fighters. Additionally, Th e Zombies music was featured on season 6 of American Idol, in an episode of Th e Simpsons, and in Quentin Tarantino’s hit fi lm, Kill Bill Vol. 2.

Th e band has a new album, their 6th studio release, entitled Breathe Out, Breathe In which they will be performing along with a bunch of their classic hits during Th e Zombies tour this fall.

Pavlo has released seven albums over the last ten years. He has toured around the world every year consistently, playing

over one hundred and fi ft y concerts per year.

Th e album “Fantasia” went Gold in Canada, and was nominated for “Best Instrumental Album of the Year” at the 2000 Juno Awards. Pavlo’s music has graced many soundtracks and television shows. In 2001, Pavlo was selected to perform for His Royal Highness, Prince Charles.

His last album: “Live at Massey Hall” celebrates a personal milestone for Pavlo. It is a record of one unforgettable night in the life of a man who lives by his father’s very wise words: “Have the courage to do what you love, and the drive to do it well.”

“Chainsaw Kitty” became “Th e Facts of Life” and eventually landed as “Th e Sleeveless Tease,” a six-member group in 2008.

“We had a lot of fun as Th e Sleeveless Tease,” said Jack. “Playing at the bandshell on Canada Day was, in my opinion, the highest peak we could reach.”

Along with Tease drummer Jamie Abate, Folkard and Jack have formed “Th e Crazy Eighty-Eight”, adding Alec Frost on Keyboards and Ed Grisenthwaite on Bass to the mix.

“We’ve expanded the repertoire of songs to include some Stevie Wonder, Joe Cocker and MGMT”, said Jack.

Th e Crazy Eighty-Eight play high energy and dancey rock and roll covers, with plans to add some original material in the future.

You can catch the band on Wednesday October 12, 2011 at Heroes Pub. Tickets are $5.00 at the door with showtime at 8:30.

On the Nature of Things

The Cube is transformed into a projection room for Tara Gardner’s � e Bones. Gardner explores her family history through a digitally

recorded performance of herself playing a Celtic instrument called the bones. Th e instrument was one of the few creative endeavours passed on to the artist by her father who valued hard work and utilitarian skills over creativity and artistry. Th e movement required to play this instrument and the framing of the work draw the viewer in while the practice of playing the music serves as a reminder of the artist’s father and a way of dealing with grief aft er his passing in 2009. Gardner blends traditional with contemporary music playing along to country songs on the artist’s MP3 player. Curated by Craig Willms, KAG Assistant Curator

Join Canadians all over the country and take part in the largest collective public participation campaign undertaken by the arts and culture community in Canada.

The title of this exibit is meant to summon up the words and images created by Roman poet and philosopher Lucretius in his epic poem De

rerum natura. Its purpose was to explain Epicurean philosophy to Roman audiences in the 1st century BC.

Th e artists in this exhibition share an interest in returning to strikingly Modernist forms and structures. Sampling from a wide range of sources as diverse as advertising, found photographs, drift wood, and modernist art, these artists employ surrealist wit to repropose clichéd forms from our everyday urban environment and popular culture into extra-ordinary aesthetic tropes that challenge a stable understanding of both art and our modernity.

An Evening of ComedyJimmie ‘JJ’ Walker

Raised on the mean streets of New York City, Walker never intended on becoming the funnyman he is today. Th e 15-year-old had dreams of becoming a professional basketball player, but when that didn’t pan out, Walker shift ed his focus completely and became an engineer at a local radio station. Comedy was always in his blood though and quickly, Walker was playing gigs to very pleased crowds. By 1972, Walker had graduated to headlining and was named: ‘Comedian of the Decade’ by Time Magazine. Among his joke writing team were comedic greats the likes of David Letterman and Jay Leno.

In Th e Guard, Gerry Boyle (Brendan Gleeson) is a cheerfully corrupt small town Irish cop who becomes embroiled in
