We love our boots. We love the outdoors. And we love using our boots in the outdoors. Which is why sustainability is one of the most important aspects of our business. For over 20 years, we’ve actively chosen to do the right thing for our environment. Truth is, as more and more consumers choose environmentally friendly products, it’s also good for business. Kamik is known for products that are built to last and are priced right, and we’ve never lost sight of that. We’re trusted to design and manufacture quality footwear that is sustainable, while continuing to offer a good value to your customers. So we seek out new materials, like BioVinyl, a plant-based synthetic rubber that has all the benefits as the less earth friendly oil-based synthetic rubber. This year, 100% of our printed rain boots will be made with BioVinyl. In addition, we are introducing a new hunting boot, made from 100% recycled synthetic rubber, with a 100% recycled liner. And speaking of liners, all our liners are made from recycled water bottles. In fact, depending on the liner, they contain between 77% and 100% recycled material. So you and your customers can be kind to the earth, all at no additional cost.

Sustainability doesn’t have to do with just what we make. But also how we make it. Our injection molding plants use hydro-generated power, not fossil fuels, and our machines are cooled with recycled rainwater. We even recycle 100% of our boot scraps and boot rejects on the premises and use them to make new boots. A recent lighting upgrade in our factories saves over 157,161 kWh of energy annually. All these practices—and more—are good for business, our earth and our bottom line, allowing us to keep our prices down and our customers happy.

Helium is the second lightest element in the known universe and, as such, we thought its empirical symbol (He) was fitting for one of the universe’s lightest boots. We spent two years in our Montreal lab developing and designing RubberHe, a compound that’s 50% lighter than natural rubber and 30% lighter than other synthetic rubbers.

All our boots made with RubberHe offer the protection of a traditional pack boot with a lot less weight to lug around. And unlike other lightweight compounds that can get hard and lose traction in cold temperatures, RubberHe stays flexible and keeps feet firmly on the ground. Its flexibility also offers superior comfort, with no boot creases digging into the foot.

Tested for oil and acid resistance in our Montreal lab, and with no fossil fuels used in its creation, RubberHe is at the forefront of boot technology.

Different climates, weather conditions and outdoor activities require different Certified Comfort Ratings. Some boots are better for walking down a snowy sidewalk, while others are made to take on more frigid and harsh conditions. To rate our boots correctly, we test our products in-house and then send them to an outside testing center to ensure they’re up to the highest standards. And all our boots are certified by the Center for Textile Technology in Quebec.
