Technical DescriptionThe 4 leg desk system offers a complete range that is easy to install and to configure. The comfortable height adjustment and the smart cable management fulfil customers’ demands.

Kalidro Technical features

The legs and structure / Installation :

Simple to adjustKalidro is height adjustable from 680 to 760mm. It’s quick and easy to do – just grab the height adjustment tool that’s stored in the frame and loosen the screws on each leg. Check the height is even using the height markers on the legs.

Easy to assembleKalidro is very easy to assemble. The frame and top are already fixed together, so all you have to do is attach the legs and select the desk height that works for you.

The top is fixed to the underframe. It allows the legs to be connected and accessories to be attached.The legs have continuously adjustable telescopic height (680 – 760mm), and consist of a leg to underframe link, steel tube (available in Aluminium EV1) and plastic glides. The legs are fixed to the underframe. (Leg with telescopic height adjustment between 620 – 860 mm with additional steel tube below.) Kalidro fixed, 720 mm is made of a leg to underframe link, steel tube und plastic glides. Castors for the rear legs (∅ 50mm) are optional.

The work top:The top is available in melamine (25mm and 19mm) with 3mm PP, solid wood (25mm) and Tech Top (14mm) with 2mm PP straight edge.


Cable management :Cable management is important. A wire-free workstation not only creates more space, it improves your productivity because there’s nothing to get in the way of your workflow. That’s why no matter what you ask of cable management, Kalidro has the answer. If your needs are more demanding, the cable tray will take care of a larger number of wires

If your cable needs are minimal, use simple cable brackets on the underside of the desk to hold power units in place and leg cable clips to run wires to the ground.

Get powered upThe cable outlet box provides convenient access to power at desk level, which means you don’t have to search around or bend down to get connected. Two different types are available.

Horizontal cable management Cable brackets (standard) The cable brackets are hung on the frame. Each cable bracket has a cable clamp Cable tray Cable tray can be lowered. Its width depends on the desk di-mensions. The cable tray is fixed to the rear of the underframe, and screwed to the desk top.

Vertical cable management Cable clipsCable clips (x 5 incl. separators) are clipped to the leg. Translucent plastic. Cable spineGrey cable spine (45 x 45 mm, Length 800 mm) consisting of moveable moulded plastic pieces, is mounted on the cable brackets or cable tray.

Kalidro in connection with Partito Screen or Orga Panel :

Kalidro has the possibility to be connected with Partito Screen by specific adapters.For desk-mounted variations, individual screens are installed across the width of the desk’s rear edge. For this purpose, two adapters per screen and two cut-outs on the rear edge of the desk are required.For back-to-back variations, individual screens are installed across the width of the desk’s rear edge. Two adapters per screen and two cut-outs per rear edge are required.As an option, panelling can be additionally fitted with an orga panel. This is designed to support trays and pencil boxes, etc.

Eco-design – Kalidro’s environmental performanceMaking eco-design is in itself a step towards sustainability, taking into account environmental, social and economic issues. Sustainability is not just about getting your plants certified. It’s about creating products that include both environmental and human health as key decision parameters, alongside usual considerations like quality, reliability and price.

Life Cycle Thinking for environmental productsAt Steelcase we designed Kalidro applying expertise to measure, analyse then reduce the impacts that our products have on the environment.

Materials AssessmentFor Kalidro we selected materials that are safe, healthy, and ecologically sound throughout their life cycle, with our partner Mc Donough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC)

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)The LCA methodology is the starting point for the continuous improvement of our products. It is based on the ISO 14040-43 and has been selected by the European Union for environmental evaluation.

Environmental parameters considered throughout Kalidro’s life cycle are: Global warming, Acidification, Eutrophication, Photochemical smog, Abiotic resource depletion, Waste, and Toxic Substances.

Our partners when carrying out LCA studies are: the Institute for Product Development in Denmark, the Institute for Engineering Design in Austria and the Institute of Chambéry in France.

To ensure a more environmentally healthful product we considered the potential environmental impact throughout Kalidro’s entire life cycle -- from materials extraction to end-of-use strategies -- as part of our overall design and development process.

Transparency with environmental declarationsAt Steelcase we communicate openly and factually about the environmental performance of our products, through environmental declarations.

With Kalidro we can provide:Environmental Product Declarations (EPD). Based on the ISO 14025, its purpose is to communicate clear and transparent informationabout a product’s impacts on the environment at all stages of its life cycle.

Blauer Engel. Kalidro complies with the German environmental certification "Blauer Engel".


PEFC. The wooden components of Kalidro are labelled with PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification).

Kalidro can be integrated into the Steelcase Environmental Partnership Program, which is designed to ensure environmentally responsible after-use strategies for furniture.

34%Kalidro is made of 34% recycled materialsCorner elements: 30% less impactThe legs’ corners are made of 100% recycled aluminium. This leads to a 30% reduction of impacts on Global Warming on the whole life-cycle, compared to the use of primary aluminium.Desktop: 25% less woodThe thickness of the desktop has been reduced by 25% (from 25 to 19mm) without compromising its performance.Legs: 25% less impactThe legs tubes are made of powder painted steel.
