And as we celebrate 20 years of Kala Sangam, we will also be looking back at some highlights. We are delighted, therefore, to now welcome the Northern Ballet to Kala Sangam as they perform Ugly Duckling, their ÄYZ[ IHSSL[ MVY JOPSKYLU ^OPJO OHZ ILLU [V\YPUN [OL <2 [V NYLH[ HJJSHPT We are delighted to welcome back the renowned poet and painter Brian Lewis to launch his work responding to our season, bringing together poetry, dance and visual arts. We will also feature visual artist and photographer, Adele Jackson, with her digital imagery presentation. Our good friends and neighbours, Freedom Studios, will be bringing Street Voices 4 to Kala Sangam Arts Centre; a collection of four works by new writers, created as part of a pioneering project that hasn’t been afraid to examine challenging issues. We also welcome members of all communities to join us for Kala Jagran, a free evening of performances to mark Maha Shivaratri, in celebration of Shiva the Lord of Dance, with music and dance. Ten new writers have been part of the Street Voices 4 writing programme led by screenwriter and playwright Mark Catley. They have been encouraged to create bold and brave drama in a safe and supportive environment, without borders, without fear, without compromise. Having explored contemporary stories – bank robberies, standing up to looters, estrangement and

dying girlfriend – only four writers will have their work chosen for this public performance. Who will it be?

the cosmos, while her later studies are concerned with the interrelationships between people, places, culture and ecology.
