Strategic games can be fun and simple. Dots and boxes – also known as paddocks and square-it – achieves both. This “pencil and paper” game is made for two players. Take turns connecting two side-by-side dots with either a horizontal or vertical line. Whoever completes a square by drawing the fourth side claims it with an initial and gets another turn. Whoever has the highest number of boxes at the end of the game is the winner.
TIP:TIP: Keep track
of which square
is yours by putting
your name or sym-
bol in it.

Campus Centert h e C e n t e r o f C a m p u s
The Campus Center Board (CCB), “Your Student Union,” wishes to extend our sincere hope that you enjoy this issue of Ka Leo and have fun with all the games. Our mission is to provide students with facilities, programs and events that make university life a fantastic time that will forever remain in your memories.
With that said, we would also sound a note of caution about drinking games. By nature, these games tend to lead to excessive alcohol consumption, which can have tragic consequences, ranging from acting out, to sexual assault, DUIs and alcohol poisoning.
We are not attempting to act as your parents, but it is our hope and concern that you remain safe and healthy. Just remember consuming alcohol under the age of 21 is a crime, as a minimum you could be faced with university discipline, or be arrested and spent some time in jail.
If you do plan to engage in drinking games, make sure that everyone is of age, and please have someone as a designated driver and to watch over the party to insure it does not cause problems.
Again, the CCB is not attempting to preach to you, we truly want to see everyone stay safe and have a great time here at UHM!

1. Break into two teams. Each team will play on opposite sides of the table.2. Stack the cups at the ends of the table, arrang-ing them in triangle formation using 6 -10 cups3. Fill each cup 1/3 to ½ with beer. (You can use water instead and have the beer on hand so you don’t have to drink beer contaminated by a dirty ping-pong ball.)4. Each team takes turns throwing the ball into the opposing team’s cups.5. When a ball lands in a cup then the team has to drink all the beer in that cup. 6. Once one team has eliminated their opponents cups, they win. The losing team must drink the beer left in the winning team’s cup(s).
If you have good aim, beer pong is simple to play. The objective is to eliminate the opposing teams’ cups by landing ping-pong balls in them before they eliminate yours. Here is how you set up and play:
RE-RACKING Each team has two opportunities to request a re-rack, which means you your opponents must reform a pyramind with their cups.
REBUTTAL After the last cup is made, the losing team has a rebuttal shot. This gives the losing team a chance to tie the game or play into overtime.
DEFLECTION Once the ball has bounced on the table, the opposing team is at liberty to swat the ball away. If the team makes a bounce shot, the opponents will have to drink two cups.
ELBOW RULE When shooting, you must keep your elbows behind the end of the table.
OVERTIME If the game ends in a tie, you must go into overtime. Place three cups on the table and allow the team who made all the cups fi rst to shoot fi rst. No re-racking is allowed.
HOUSE RULES When you agree to play beer pong, you are also agreeing to the house rules. House rules are made up by the owner of the residence.
