Despite all the rain we’ve received this past year, the new Library is still scheduled to open Late Summer/Early Fall of next year. Currently, Library staff is busy finalizing the upholstery selections and finishes for the furniture in each department and starting to select books for the “Opening Day Collection”. The Book Corner interior and workroom has been finalized, including shelving, the custom check-out counter, and workspaces for “the stocking crew”. Don’t forget that you can track the progress of the construction by visiting https://newylpl.com/.

THE BOOK CORNER BULLETIN

Please plan to join us at the Annual Members’ Sale on January 25th

from 10 am to 4 pm in

the Book Corner and the Community Room. Everyone is welcome but remember,

Members get 50% off of ALL purchases. Friends memberships may be purchased on the

day of the sale. Remember that we now accept debit or credit cards as well as cash as

payment.

The Book Corner needs volunteers who can carry boxes of books and assist with the

January sale set-up and take down. Please contact the Book Corner at (714) 693-5044 for

more information or to sign up.

Ever wondered what the Book Corner is selling on eBay? You may find us by entering our seller’s name into the

advanced search: yllbookcorner.

Donations of books and media items from the community help to make the Book Corner a success. In preparation

for our move to the new library this fall, however, we will stop accepting donations at our current store effective June

1. Please consider doing your spring cleaning early this year! As more information about the timing of our move

becomes available, we will post signs in the store as to when we will be able to take donations at the new Book Corner in

our new library.

See you in the Book Corner,

Desiree Dumas Book Corner Chair

Come visit the new Friends of the Yorba Linda Public Library website at www.friendsylpl.org!

Launched in September 2019, the new website serves as an avenue for outreach to our members

and the community on everything about the Friends and our mission in supporting the Yorba Linda

Public Library. On the website, you will find information on making donations, the Who’s Done it

Book Club, upcoming events by hosted by the Friends, and much more!

In the coming months we will be rolling out new features to the website such as online membership sign-up and

newsletter outreach. So come on by and visit www.friendsylpl.org to stay up to date on what’s happening with the

Friends. We also welcome any suggestions you’d like to see on the webpage. If you have any requests, please feel free

to contact the webmaster through the website.

Friends Membership Drive

The best way to support the library is to become a member of the Friends of the Yorba Linda Public Library. The money from your membership goes to support all the wonderful programs the library puts on – programs for all ages.

Your membership entitles you to receive a 10% discount on all Book Corner purchases. At the January 25, 2020 book sale you will receive a 50% discount on all purchases, both in the Community

Room and the Book Corner. Please take the time to join the Friends and support our wonderful library. Also, we would

love to have you as a volunteer, either working in the Book Corner or at one of the book sales. You

will get to work with a great bunch of people. Laura Metsker, Membership Chairperson
