1960 late '90s

With over 1,000 stores throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, Middle East and Asia, Justice is the leading tween specialty retailer in the world.

Our merchandise sets the trends that keep tween girls fashionable—and, even better, feeling self-confident. Outgoing sales associates provide a fun and energetic experience with every visit to our store. And midnight shoppers are covered at shopjustice.com, where they’re always just a click away from the hottest fashions on the planet.

But who is Justice? And how did the company begin? For that, we must take you on a Tween journey.

The year is 1960, and The Limited has revolutionized the fashion scene by opening a retail store in Columbus, Ohio. As years pass, the brand realizes a loyal following, goes public, and continues to grow.

During this time, Limited, Inc., introduces several concepts but one moves front and center—Limited Too, a store that provides European fashions to a wide variety of ages, from infants to young girls.

Fast-forward to the

late ‘90s.

Limited Too begins to evolve. Fun, colorful, and interactive stores are designed, stores that cater to a new audience: tween girls, ages 7 to 14.

Hip fashions (and a fresh logo) delight tween girls who flock to the stores, and Limited Too quickly becomes the fashion destination for this demographic.

1999

Then, in 1999, Limited Too spins off from The Limited, Inc., marking the official launch of Too, Inc.

The company introduces a catazine (magazine/catalog) to further excited tween girls and then provides 24/7 access to the hottest fashions through online shopping.

500stores

2000

Growth and prosperity continue. The company celebrates 500 stores in 2002 and opens sourcing offices in Hong Kong and Korea.

2004

A new concept is unveiled that changes the company’s history: Justice, a value-priced brand featuring fashions for tween girls at more affordable pricing.

2006

Two years later, the name of Too, Inc. is changed to Tween Brands, Inc., and the first Justice catazine is produced.

2008

2008 marks a historic year as Limited Too and Justice become one brand with a single vision and a single focus on “our girl”—the tween girl.

2009 – 2012

In 2009, Tween Brands becomes part of a powerful entity by merging with The Ascena Retail Group, Inc. Justice joins sister brands dressbarn and maurices, and further expands with the acquisitions of Lane Bryant and Catherines in 2012. Today, The Ascena Retail Group, Inc. is a leading national specialty retailer of apparel for women and tween girls offering fashion at a great value.

Today

Today, Justice continues to be at the forefront of tween fashion, offering the must-have fashions for tween girls. It’s hot fashions at a cool price.

OUR GIRL is our #1

We set the bar, really high. Our designers search the globe for the hottest “next” in fashion. They’re innovators who interpret worldwide trends in a way that makes tweens feel good about themselves. Attending concerts, going to trade shows, constantly shopping—anything they do can spark an inspiration, and they do it all. Designers are visionary risk-takers, who always stay three steps ahead of the next new thing.

Our reputation precedes us. We’re known for providing the hottest fashions in a unique interactive environment, all at a great value. Store associates are experts at pulling together outfits that reflect the personality of every tween girl who shops at Justice. They’re fashion experts who connect with our girl in a way that builds both her self-esteem and self-confidence. From girlie to preppy, and artsy to sporty, no matter the type of girl who enters our stores, she leaves feeling good about herself—and dressed with the hottest fashions on the planet. Now that’s extraordinary!

Marketing with purpose. What is influencing tween fashion, and how do we reflect it to create an attachment to our brand? What promotions make mom want to get to our store or website and purchase? Our marketing and direct teams are constantly developing programs to drive our business both online and in stores, while helping “sell” our fashion to give tweens more social status than ever before. Girls love to browse through our popular catazine to see our latest fashions before they hit the stores and our Facebook page (Facebook.com/Justice) provides mom with a direct avenue to discover breaking news about our brand and also provide her point of view. Intensely curious, drilling for actionable insight, results-driven, and understanding the relationship between mom and her tween makes for challenging and rewarding work.

A fashionable radar. Our merchants are experts at problem solving. They fully understand the tween demographic and approach their work through the eyes of our customers. They also have one thing in common: a strong fashion radar. This team translates trends, sets business strategies into motion, and works closely with our creative and visual teams—all at an incredibly fast pace.

We’re on time and on target.Planners are big picture thinkers. They create inventory plans that support the trends and business strategies for the current and upcoming seasons. Allocators monitor inventory and sales trends. These teams work together to distribute our goods to market through two distinct channels: domestic and direct ship. They work nimbly to get the right merchandise, to the right stores, at the right time.

We’ve got the genius supply gene. This savvy global team manages the entire supply chain process—from order placement, through delivery of fashion and accessories to our stores. All with a watchful eye on costs. Four distinct areas: sourcing, technical operations, production operations, and DC operation/transportation, work together for a seamless end-to-end supply chain that gets the hottest fashions to our stores—right on time to delight our tweens.

Customization is key.Our Technical Operations teams are experts in product development management with a keen focus on garment marketing and trim, color, fabric, and fit. They translate aesthetic designs that set and maintain the standards mom expects each and every time her daughter slips on a fashionable outfit from Justice—and a value that delights our mom.

The team creates and maintains partnerships to share learnings, identify opportunities, and determine best practices.

Now that’s a perfect fit!
