Natural Satellites of Jupiter
Jupiter has a total of 67 natural satellites. 53 of these satellites are confirmed as moons while 14 are in what is
called their provisional stage of being counted as moon. These give Jupiter more moons than any other planets. It
has four main moons that are well know that are: Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto.
About jupiter
Jupiter has an atmosphere of 90 percent hydrogen and 9.8
percent helium with the rest being small traces of methane,
ammonia,sulfur and water vapor.

It takes about 11.9 earth days for jupiter to complete one

The period of jupiter's revolution

Jupiter's surface?
As of now we are still not sure whether jupiter has a surface
or not if it does it'll be a ball of hydrogen in liquid and
metal state.
Artificial Satellites of Jupiter
The latest artificial satellite sent to Jupiter was Juno sent by the USA in
2011. Many probes have been sent to pass Jupiter but the first to orbit and
observe it was the Galileo spacecraft. Launched on Oct. 18, 1989, it arrived
on Dec.7, 1995 and gathered data in its orbit for the next two years.
How Jupiter was formed
Jupiter was formed about 4.5 billion years ago. Solarwinds
moved lighter elements from the sun. Gravity trapped gas and
dust to form gas giants, such as Jupiter. Most of Jupiter’s
mass is from the Sun.
Jupiters Mythological story
Jupiter is the king of the gods. He is often associated with thunder,
lightning, and storms. He is known as Jupiter Elicius, meaning one
who brings forth. His greatest title would be Jupiter Optimus
Maximus, meaning the best and the greatest. Jupiter raised a group
of cretans to engage the cercopes, a group of forest creatures.
Jupiters exploits made Saturn, the king of the gods jealous. Saturn
planned a scheme to kill Jupiter. Jupiter heard that his father
wanted him dead so he deposed his father and became the king of
the gods.
Position, Distance, and Diameter
❏Jupiter is the 5th planet from the
sun.
❏Jupiter is 778 million kilometers
from the sun
❏Jupiter’s diameter is 139,822
kilometers, about 11 times the
diameter of Earth
Fun Facts
The first time jupiter was seen was 7th or 8th century BC by
Babylonian astronomers.
Jupiter is one of the just five planets we can see from
earth.
The surface is covered in clouds made of made primarily of
ammonia crystals, sulfur, and a mixtures of the two
compounds.
