STUART’S BLOG

There are a lot of things that I no longer remember from my schooldays. Eleven years learning and a life time trying to remember! I dohowever, have a recollection for certain things. One of those is theamazing cycle of how rainfall nourishes the land, creating mountainstreams, which in turn creates rivers, which eventually pour into thesea via vast estuaries. Across the huge expanse of the oceans, waterevaporates to create clouds which are blown across the land releas-ing fresh downpours of rain- and so the cycle continues.Creation points us to a God who is continually pouring himself uponus. He wants to rain into our lives the glorious Holy Spirit whosepresence begins as a stream in our hearts, and according to our thirst, increases to become a river of life that flows from us – and so thecycle continues.

John 7:37 “Anyone who is thirsty may come to Me! Anyone whobelieves in me may come and drink! For the scriptures declare,‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart’.

There is always more rain. The rain to create a river. God wants youto come to him thirsty and he will release a fresh downpour in yourlife to create a river that flows from your life. But it seems that onlythe thirsty find such refreshing resources- those who approach Godand ask Him. May that be you and I, here at CLC. May we be men andwomen who are asking God for more of Himself.

Rivers of LIVING water…

ARKNew Team Leader

Earlier in the year, we employed Esther West as our ARK project leader.Unfortunately, Esther had to leave this post at the beginning of May to take upa full-time position that was made available to her. We are very grateful forEsther’s enthusiastic leadership of ARK both in a voluntary and staffed posi-tion over the last 18 months or so, and wish her well in her new careeropportunity.

We are delighted that Jess Pritchard is taking up this important post leadingARK. She will be working two days a week, leading a great group ofvolunteers. ARK is a ministry of CLC that provides emergency food, clothingand support to people in need and we run a Drop-In on a Thursday as acontact point for many people in genuine need.

We plan to launch another Intern Programme in September of this year here at

There are two places available, and details, along with an ap-plication form can be obtained by contacting the church office on 0121 471 3677or [email protected] The internship offers an opportunity for work-ing closely with our church staff team in specific areas of church life, along with a

programme of personal development and mentoring from key leaders in ourchurch. We are particularly interested in young people with some of the follow-ing skills and interests: Media and graphic design; Youth work; Children’s work

and Social action.

CLC Intern Programme 2013/14

On behalf of Hope for Justice, we would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyonewho helped to make our Fun Day a big success.

So many people came to support us on the day and enthusiastically took part in thevarious different things that we had going on. Thank you.

The total so far of all that we raised during the actual Fun Day, plus numerous verygenerous donations is a fantastic £2216.13!!!!!

We also still have to collect in and add up all the sponsor money from the Pastor'sCycle Challenge (Well Done to our Pastors!).

Steve, Junie and Ivan's upcoming cycle rides (on 29th May/ 1st June) will also add toour total once their sponsor money is collected.

So over the next few weeks the amount raised should rise again and we will let youknow as soon as we have a final figure.

Special thanks go to all of the very kind donations that we received from localbusinesses towards our Silent Auction and Jewellery stands.

Also to the amazing people in our Act for Justice group who knitted and baked andmade jam and cards to sell.Thank you too to the Refreshments team, who did awonderful job; and to all of the members of our church who baked cakes to sell.

We couldn't have done it without everyone playing their part so THANK YOU all againso much. Together we have made a stand against Human Trafficking and brought hopeto precious lives.

“With my mouth I will greatly extol the Lord;

in the great throng of worshipers I will praise him.

For he stands at the right hand of the needy,

to save their lives from those who would condemn them.”
