June 2019

Dear Brothers, Families and Friends,

I think it’s safe to say that summer is of-ficially here. Yikes, it’s hot. June is not only the beginning of a very hot

summer. The month of June is also dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. June is repre-sented by the liturgical color green. The sym-bol of hope, the sprouting seed and arouses in the faithful the hope of reaping the eternal harvest in heaven.

Deputy Grand Knight Brook Mosness and myself recently attended the annual three day Knights Of Columbus State Convention in Orlando. Very informative. It was great talking with the other Knights from all over the State. Sharing stories and comparing notes. In doing so, I assure you that we are doing well.

There will be a Church Bingo Saturday June 8th starting at 5:30 in the Bosco center. Come have some fun and possibly win some money but most importantly support the Church.

The proposed slate of K of C Officers for 2019 - 2020 has been read and posted. The election of officers will take place at our next

council meeting Tuesday June 11th. Nomina-tions can be accepted from the floor.

The Officers Installation/Grand Knights appreciation dinner will be Saturday June 15th at 6:00pm at our hall. You must RSVP no later than Wednesday June 12th. If you have not already signed up you may con-tact me. Accurate head counts are important.

Continue the good works that you are doing. May God Bless each one of you and your families. “ Keep it Simple”

We often tell others we will pray for them. Please take the time and pray for those that need our prayers.

Sunshine CommitteePlease bring all your empty cans to the Knights of Colum-bus Hall. Be sure they are ALUMI-NUM ONLY. That is all that we can take at the hall.

There had been a request to save the poptops from beverage cans There will be a container place at the council hall for the collection of these tops.

Cell Phones are now being donated to an organization training service dogs to pick up

phones for veterans.

NEW! NEW! NEW!

Another item we are recycling is empty ink cartridges. Office Depot will give us $2.00 each for these cartridges. That is signficantly more than what we have received in the past. They will also help fund sending the newsletter in color so those who do not have a com-puter can enjoy the same as those receiving a digital copy.

Insurance Agents Report

A Founding Notion: Protecting the Breadwinner’s Income

While jobs may be safer in 2019, accidents, injuries, and illnesses that can impact your ability to work still happen. Most, in fact, do not happen on the jobsite or place of employment. Did you know that a 2011 study revealed that more than 95 percent of the long-term disability claims on file were not work related? The Knights have always sought to protect members’ families from the “loss” of a breadwinner. I’m sure you know all about Father McGivney’s vision for our insurance program. But you may not know that Father McGivney also wanted to find a way to help members who couldn’t work because of an illness. After all, the “loss” of the breadwinner does not have to mean that person’s death; it can also mean the loss of the bread-winner’s income. Consider that loss for a moment. How would your family fare if a source of income suddenly stopped? Could a dual-income family manage on one income? What about young families with a working father and a mother who cares for the children? What if his income halted due to an accident or illness? I’ve heard some people say they have coverage at work, but too many aren’t sure what this coverage entails, how much income it would provide or for how long. Having this protection counts for something, certainly, but it isn’t “yours”; it’s provided by the company for which you work at their discretion. It could be eliminat-ed tomorrow. That’s where a personally-owned disability income insurance product, like Income Armor, comes into play. It can offer valuable income replacement in the event of an injury or illness. If you have a job, you must know about this coverage.
