Perfect love casts out fear. Whoever fears has not reached perfection in love. 1 John 4:18
Dear church,
As we approach July 1 and the halfway point of 2012, my initial thought was to
share with you a word about stewardship and our finances, given that six months
ago we approved an unbalanced budget for the year and no surprise we
are currently running a deficit.
However, there is something even more important that I want to share with you: Vacation Bible
School is now just weeks away! I do not exaggerate when I say this is an important event, because it is
easily the biggest family outreach event of the year for our congregation. Vacation Bible School has
the potential to touch more families with the love of God than any other event we do.
And so, I ask you to please spend some time praying for the success of this years Vacation Bible
School.
Also, we need every member of BKCC to commit to inviting one or more families with children toattend this years VBS. Who do you plan to invite?
Finally, I invite you to mark July 16-20 on your own calendar. You are invited to join the children
of VBS for their closing finale each day from 11:30-noon in the sanctuary.
When I see how effective VBS is in sharing Gods love with the children of our neighborhood, I am
blessed many times over. In the past, Ive had young children come up to me in February telling me
how much they enjoyed the previous years VBS, and how much they are looking forward to the next
one. Our VBS program has a powerful impact on the lives of children and families in our commu-
nity!
So, what about stewardship and our finances? Well, you can be sure that Ill talk about that some
other time; but as long as we fulfill our mission and continue reaching out to a broken world with the
love of God that makes all things whole I believe that the finances will take care of themselves.
Blessings,
Pastor Danny
