S55 IRON #1 MODEL AT U.S. OPEN JUNE 22, 2015 RECORD- SETTING SUNDAY LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN MADE A BLISTERING CHARGE AT THE U.S. OPEN. L ouis Oosthuizen set or tied a number of records in earning his T2 at the U.S. Open, most notably with his scintillating 6-under 29 on the back nine Sunday, which matched the lowest nine-hole score in the major’s 115-year history. He made five birdies in a row on holes 12 through 16 at Chambers Bay GC, including a hole-out on #14, and he birdied six of his last seven. His performance is all the more remarkable given that he recovered from an opening 77 by going 66-66-67 the rest of the way and finishing T1 in birdies with 18. He set the record for low total middle 36 holes (132) and low total last 54 holes (199). He tied the mark for low total any 54 holes (199). The PING technology in his bag included a G30 LS Tec driver and S55 irons. See his What’s in the Bag on the next page. W ith 17 sets in pros’ bags, the S55 iron was the most popular model at the U.S. Open. It was the club of choice for 11 of 14 PING pros at the major championship, including Louis Oosthuizen, Bubba Watson, Billy Horschel, Angel Cabrera and Miguel Ángel Jiménez. All five players in PING’s amateur program who competed in the U.S. Open relied on the S55 iron. The S55 iron was also the #1 model at the NCAA Division 1 Men’s Championship.

S55 IRON #1 MODEL AT U.S. OPEN

JUNE 22, 2015

RECORD-SETTING SUNDAY

LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN MADE A BLISTERING CHARGE AT THE U.S. OPEN.

Louis Oosthuizen set or tied a number of records in earning his T2 at the U.S. Open, most notably with his

scintillating 6-under 29 on the back nine Sunday, which matched the lowest nine-hole score in the major’s 115-year history. He made fi ve birdies in a row on holes 12 through 16 at Chambers Bay GC, including a hole-out on #14, and he birdied six of his last seven.

His performance is all the more remarkable given that he recovered from an opening 77 by going 66-66-67 the rest of the way and fi nishing T1 in birdies with 18. He set the record for low total middle 36 holes (132) and low total last 54 holes (199). He tied the mark for low total any 54 holes (199).

The PING technology in his bag included a G30 LS Tec driver and S55 irons. See his What’s in the Bag on the next page.

With 17 sets in pros’ bags, the S55 iron was the most popular model at the U.S. Open. It was the club of

choice for 11 of 14 PING pros at the major championship, including Louis Oosthuizen, Bubba Watson, Billy Horschel, Angel Cabrera and

Miguel Ángel Jiménez. All fi ve players in PING’s

amateur program who competed in the U.S. Open relied on the S55 iron.

The S55 iron was also the #1 model at the NCAA Division 1 Men’s Championship.

Daniel Summerhays had reason to smile as he strode the fairways of Chambers Bay GC at the U.S. Open. In only his third appearance in a major, he posted rounds of 70-67-78-70. It proved to be a successful trial run with his newly fi t PING equipment. Before the tournament, he visited the PING Tour Trailer and had all of his clubs shortened 1 inch. Summerhays had been choking down one inch in an attempt to get his swing plane more vertical. After testing, he found he hadn’t lost distance, ball speed or clubhead speed but had tightened his dispersion.

HENDERSON EARNS 3RD

WIN AS PRO

Continuing her winning ways, Brooke Henderson, 17, earned her third

victory as a professional on Sunday, claiming the Symetra Tour’s Four Winds Invitational in South Bend, Ind. She relied on a G30 driver, fairway wood and hybrid, i25 irons, Glide wedges, and a Scottsdale TR Craz-E putter. “This is a huge win for me,” she said. “I have big goals and this is defi nitely a stepping stone toward them.”

After her three-shot victory at -10 (72-65-69), Henderson petitioned for and received a waiver to the minimum-age requirement for Symetra Tour membership. Her larger goal is to be exempt

on the LPGA Tour without going to Q School this fall. In seven LPGA events this season, playing on sponsor invites and in Monday qualifi ers, she has made $317,470, which would place her 21st on the money list if she were a tour member. She will earn membership if she fi nishes the year equal to or better than the player who fi nishes 40th on the money list.

Henderson is scheduled to play the women’s U.S. Open, British Open and Canadian Open this summer.
