VENDOR BOOTHS • The numbers will vary as the Market builds over the summer but we are targeting up to 100 so that the street isn’t crowded but there is plenty of diversity. We expect to start a little under that target and grow quickly! Since variety is the spice of life, look forward to a lot of it. FOOD TRUCKS • Food trucks will change from week to week to provide variety. They will be located on Diana Krall Plaza among other food and beverage vendors and samplers. ENTERTAINMENT • A stage for music at the Modern Café and another one at Diana Krall Plaza. There will also be street performers, bouncy castles, a climbing wall, street games and more. DOWNTOWN MERCHANTS • As independent operators they call their own shots, but we’re hoping most will stay open for the evening and take advantage of the crowds visiting our vendors. Many of them will have booths or tables outside of their stores. RESTAURANTS • Downtown restaurants will be open and some will have extended their sidewalk dining onto Commercial Street. Modern Café will be providing live entertainment on their patio area. ARTS & CULTURE WALK • Downtown shops and galleries are participating in a self-guided walking tour on Thursday nights. We’ll have a map available at the Chamber & CHLY booths. CELEBRATING OTHER COMMUNITY EVENTS • We’ll collaborate with Indigenous Days, Canada Day, Dragonboat, Silly Boat, Marine Festival (will also host Bathtub Days Street Fair!) and other summer events and are planning to incorporate their activities with our downtown entertainment packages. PARKING • The road closure for Commercial, Skinner, Wharf Streets and Museum Way goes into effect at 2 pm on Night Market Days. Vehicles left on these streets after 2 pm are subject to towing to a nearby location. • The Bastion Parkade is free evenings and weekends, starting at 5 pm. The parking lots and meters on Wallace/Wentworth, Cavan and Selby Streets are also free evenings and weekends starting at 5 pm, as is Maffeo Sutton Park. • Paid parking is available in both the Port Theatre (Harbourfront) and Conference Centre (Port of Nanaimo Centre) parking lots. Charges are $.75 for the first two hours and $1 for each additional hour. There are a number of other privat pay parking lots in the city centre. • Port Place Shopping Centre parking is set aside for their customers. Please respect that.
