Thoughts for Riverside WeeklyThis morning during our morning prayer-time Phil and I had a practice run of the prayers for tomorrow morning’s Zoom service. We were reading through the prayers and one particular section chimed with me, matching my own thoughts and the thoughts shared through phone conversations over the past couple of weeks:‘God in the darkness, hold us when everything feels too much, when all we can do is get out of bed in the morning, when nothing gets done, when lockdown seems about competitive ‘doing’ and we haven’t the energy to be productive, help us to listen to ourselves, to love ourselves as you love us, to remember that you do not measure our worth by our activity, you simply love, and love beyond all measure.’When lockdown started most of us embraced the time to do things differently and many of us are still finding peace in a different pace of life; but for the rest of us we are now struggling a bit with the length of lockdown and are longing to be able to see friends and family and return to some of the good things we were able to share pre-lockdown. This prayer reminds us that God is with us on the days when we struggle as well as on the days when we are able to count our blessings and thank God for them.Remember God is with us at all times and in all seasons; whether or not we are aware of it. My prayer for you all this week is that you know God’s love surrounding and comforting you in all you have to face and do.

With love in Christ, Deacon Lisa Rathbone

To all my dear friends,

Thank you ever so much for sponsoring my walks during Lockdown.

I have enjoyed walking in our lovely area and thank God that I have kept well, and hope you have kept well too.

So far we have sent £550 off to Christian Aid, and we ask God to use it to help lots of people.

God Bless,

From Anne.

Lord, let us remember that there is no fruit from the orchard without the bee, no roaming herds unless first a billion, billion blades of grass grow, that the big depend on the tiny and the tiny on the microscopic.

Lord, the secret of life is in your hands and so we bow at the feet of the architect of the ecosystem, and recognise that the breath of life within us all is yours. Amen.

Paul Wardle, local preacher, Tiverton and Wellington Circuit
