ThedaCare, Clintonville Schools Promote Healthy Habits

During the first week in May, students at Longfellow Elementary School saw their school bustle with activi-ties designed to help them build healthy lifestyle skills. ThedaCare presented their third annual Good to Go ini-tiative, engaging students through activities, advice and encouragement to promote healthy habits and to share their learnings with their families. This year Clintonville school leaders collaborated with committee members from ThedaCare to create program-ming that both engages children and leaves them with ideas about how to integrate simple wellness behaviors into their future lives. Schools rotate each year, so ThedaCare employee volunteers will reach thousands of children over time. The Good to Go initiative was held May 1-5. “The overall goal was to spend some time with stu-dents during that one week to create habits that can last for a lifetime,” said Heather Murphy, ThedaCare Cardi-ovascular Care manger and a Good to Go volunteer leader. “The mission for our organization is to improve the health of our communities, and to work with the schools in the communities we live and work in is really rewarding. It’s a good way for us all to be able to live our mission.” Schools choose which activities will fit best with their programs. Longfellow Elementary chose a host of activ-ities including leading gym classes, a food demonstra-tion, a health demonstration showing the amount of fat and sugar in foods, seed planting, playground games, energy breaks, mindfulness practice, a fun run/walk and a family fun night that includes health activities and life-style screening, said Karen Petermann, physical education instructor at Longfellow Elementary School. “This weeklong wellness plunge will support our wellness team’s initiatives and everything that we teach in physical education class” Petermann said. “It will help students to recognize the importance of taking personal responsibility for their own health.” Additionally, Longfellow’s Wellness team invited the school’s Running Club Leadership Council, consisting of four-grade students, to be part of the planning pro-cess.

Don’t forget to share the “Newsline” with fellow employees!

A Look at Data Trends It’s probably not surprising to hear that 89% of consumers in the U.S. say they can’t live with-out their smartphone or it’s always in arms reach. Combine that with tablets and mobile hot spots and people are spend-ing more time than ever connected to their mobile network. So how are people using these connected devices?

On average, social media users are spending 40 minutes a day on YouTube, 35 minutes on Facebook, 25 minutes on Snapchat, 15 minutes on Instagram and a minute on Twitter, with most of that ac-tivity being done via a mobile device. (via MediaKix)

61% of mobile traffic is from videos. While that number is already staggering, video is estimated to account for 77% of mobile traffic by 2020. (via CTIA)

74% of people are watching live video via their smartphone. Live video is more readily available than ever before ap-pearing on apps ranging from your favor-ite sports channel to Facebook. (via AOL)

With mobile video and other data-hungry apps booming in popularity, data consump-tion has skyrocketed. Americans used 804.2 million GB a month at the end of 2015! That’s the equivalent of 376 million hours of streaming video per month and more than double the 338.4 million GB of data used per month in 2014. Of course, all this data comes at a price and people can take action to manage the costs of consuming all this data. Consumers can monitor their data usage via their smartphone settings or apps (like myCell-com), use Wi-Fi when available and select a data plan that will meet their needs to avoid overage charges. If you and your family are running into overage charges, you should consider a larger data bucket or an unlim-ited data plan. Cellcom offers 500 MB to un-limited data on its new Advantage Plan and recently launched unlimited data for busi-ness accounts.

Cellcom is respected for its long-standing reputation of delivering extraordi-nary customer care, being a strong commu-nity partner, and for its renowned network, which is customized to its rural markets. As a subsidiary of Nsight, Cellcom is part of a family of companies offering complete tele-communications services.
