Galatians5:7isoneofmyfavoriteverses.IguessthereasonisbecauseIhaveliveditsomany times.Icaneasilyrunagoodraceforacoupleofweeks,butthedailyroutineofrunningfinallygetstome,andIstoprunning.ThetruthisthatIambasicallyundisciplined.Iliketheidea oflivingadisciplinedlife;Ijustdon’tlikethehardworkittakestoachieveit.

Iloveacleancloset,butthatmeansImustpickupmyclothesandshoeseverysingle day.Iloveacleandesk,butthatmeansImusthandlepaperonlyonce,whichisextremely hardformetodo.Iloveacleancar,butthatmeansImustdisposeofthetrashIseemto collect.IlovetoseethatI’velostweightwhenIgetonthescale,butthatmeansImustwatch whatIeatandwriteitdowneveryday.

Hereiswheremyjourneybegan.Beforegoingonvacationlastyear,Isatthroughthepresentationonthefour‐sidedperson.IwasremindedbymyleaderthatIwasthelastpersontosignupthatday.AlthoughIwasattheveryendofmyoverweightrope,Ihadtriedeverythingelseanditdidn'twork,sowhatdidIhavetolosebutweight?SoIgavetheFirstPlace4HealthProgramashot,withplentyofskepticism.

Myweightproblemstartedataroundagesevenandbytheageoften,Iwas120lbs.Fromthatpointon,Icontinuedtogainweightbyleapsandbounds,andwhenIgraduatedhighschoolIweighed190

lbs.Duringthistime,Itriedalltypesofdiets,eventothepointofbeinganorexic.

Shortlyaftergraduatinghighschool,Imetmyhusband,andthedayIgotmarriedIweighed238lbs.Afterthebirthofmysecondchild,Iwasunabletolosetheweight.Asmysonapproachedthesix‐monthmark,Iwasteeteringbetween250‐251lbs.Atthatpoint,IjustacceptedthatIwasforevergoingtobeoverweight;Ihadtoacceptitorhavebariatricsurgery.

ThedayIdecidedtogotomyfirstmeetingchangedmylifeforever,thoughIdidnotknowitatthetime.IhadcompletedtheBiblestudy,memorizedScripture,andstartedimmediatelytochangemycalorieintake.Bytheendofthefirstweek,weweighedinandIwasshocked.Ihadlostsixlbs.already.Wow!Ithought,“Howdidthathappen?Itwastooeasy.”

Asweekspassed,wewentdeeperanddeeperintoBiblestudyandScripture.Iwasastounded.ThepoundsbegantomeltoffjustbyfollowingwhattheLordhadputbeforeme.NowIhavetoadmitthateventhoughtheweightwascomingoff,Ididn'tbegintoexerciseuntilIwastoldIneededtostart.SowhatevertheprogramtoldmetodoIobedientlyfollowed.JUNE2015 PAGEFIVE

Halfwaythere!Youhavemademorechangesthanyoueverthoughtyoucould.Youhavemoretomake,yetyoucanlookbackandseehowdifferentyouarefromwhenyouwere“atthebeginning.”Come,sowecancongratulateyouforallthechangesyouhavemade.Yahoo!Youarewellonyourway.Donotgetdiscouraged.
