Parts Return and Restocking Module

Controlling the Return of Parts

FDC Solutions continues to build in

utility to our current product suite in

addition to new development. Re-

cently, the Parts Return and Re-

stocking Module had a number of

enhancements added. The module

was designed to ensure a dealer-

ship has control over the return of

parts from its customer base. The

application also assures that users

are notified at the time of a sale if

the part may not be returnable.

Enhancements:

Automatically apply dealer-

ship’s part return restocking

policy by store/SOS, or reason

code

Ability to exempt customers

Not allowed to return parts that

equal $0.00 in value

Allows dealers to require users

to supply/apply a ‘Reason

Code’ for a parts return

Password protection allowing

users to override the return

restocking policy

Dealers are encouraged to contact

FDC for more information and im-

plementation.

Features:

The module is designed to

automatically apply the dealer-

ship’s Part Return Restocking

policy

Can also be turned on

for Shop use

The restocking percentage is

applied as a line item dis-

count, thus reducing the value

of the original sell price of the

part

All returned items must have

been purchased at your deal-

ership

Benefits:

Ability to effectively manage

an enterprise-wide returns

policy

Parameter driven and

customizable

Unmatched visibility to parts

returns

The module eliminates the

need for IT departments to

program and maintain code

each time the return policy is

changed

Once a part has been re-

turned for a specific invoice, it

cannot be returned again

DBS/DBSi Fix Available for

“SEE STAT” Message

Attention Inventory Analysts Do you have a growing number of

parts that are forced to “Suggested

Order” due to the reason SEE

STAT ??? Many of these are regular,

cheap parts that should be auto or-

dered, but instead eat up your valua-

ble time working the stock order every

day.

FDC Solutions has fixed this issue.

ERP supported dealers can contact

FDC Solutions to get the fix at no

charge. The fix is also available for

purchase for non-supported dealers.

Freight Module Enhancements

Parameters Used to Assess Inbound or Outbound Freight

The FDC Solutions Freight mod-

ule was designed to automatical-

ly charge the customer for freight

parts on shop, counter, and Inter-

net documents. Recent enhance-

ments to the module contain pa-

rameters to establish and assess

freight charges for Inbound

freight, Outbound freight, or both.

The freight calculations are com-

puted on either the total docu-

ment weight or the total docu-

ment selling price with the use of

a ‘range’ table. Dealers can also

specify a minimum and maxi-

mum dollar amount of freight to

charge at the customer level,

which would take priority.

Features

Freight is added to the docu-

ment based on a miscellane-

ous charge code specified

Options are available to by-

pass freight at the store level

if Smart Sourced (inbound or

outbound) or if freight is man-

ually added

Parameters include a date

range option to bypass

freight at the customer level

for Counter, Shop, or Internet

documents

Inbound freight charges can

be bypassed entirely based

on an Inbound Shipping In-

structions

Prior to finishing the docu-

ment, dealers can review the

total freight charged ensuring

accurate pricing for the cus-

tomer

Dealers now have the capa-

bility to charge freight by the

shipping method (UPS

Ground, UPS Blue, UPS

Next Day) and the associat-

ed facility they are sourced

from MOR, YRK, ATL, CLA

Freight can be added for the

method of shipment used

to send the parts to the cus-

tomer as well as a drop box

charge based on the drop

box location

Additional Options:

Dealers can specify a differ-

ent inbound or outbound

charge code, based on the

Destination Code, Ship Via,

or Instructions

Dealers using WMS have the

ability to assign a Destination

Code based on the Ship Via

used in PartStore

Upon request, FDC can pro-

vide an advanced feature for

dealers that need an addi-

tional ‘key’ for the freight cal-

culation

New Development

Parts Sales Origination Method

We are pleased to offer the fol-

lowing DBS/DBSi custom devel-

opment projects to interested

dealers.

The Parts Sales Origination

Method application was designed

to provide the dealerships with a

simple way to track the origin of

Parts Counter or Work Order

Sale documents created. To fa-

cilitate this functionality, users

supply the origin method of each

order entered.

With 10 pre-defined origination

methods, dealers are able to

track this information to aid in

adjusting their internal resource

management plans based on

actual business patterns and

volume.

We are

pleased to

introduce the

newest mem-

ber of FDC

ing with FDC

Solutions in May 2015 and is lo-

cated in the Peoria office. Tod

worked for Cashman Equipment

for 10 years in the IT department

as a Help Desk Lead, supporting

both Windows PC's and some

AS400 operations. He was the

Cat Service Software administra-

tor for the dealership responsible

for Maintaining SIS and ET

licensing as well as CWS user

administration.

Tod also conducted technician

training for SIS Web and Part-

Store. For the last eight months

at Cashman, he was in the Mar-

keting department as the eBusi-

ness Coordinator, responsible

for Web Development and Part-

Store administration.

Tod and his wife, Tonya, have

four children and four grandchil-

dren. They love bicycling, camp-

ing, and going on vacations.

DBS Promo Code Maintenance

Previously, Promo Code was re-

leased for the Partstore. We are

pleased to announce that the

Promo Code Maintenance fea-

ture is a new function added to

DBS that allows dealers to estab-

lish valid promo codes and the

corresponding parameters. The

module provides controls to ena-

ble more specific application of

Promo Codes not only by cus-

tomer and source of supply, but

also by CC, BEC, and Part Num-

ber. The module allows dealers

to provide customers a ‘one time

only’ option for a specific promo

code. It also allows for a line

item discount in addition to the

document discount option.
