Prelude All Glory Be to God on High Pachelbel Welcome Introit (see insert)

Let it breathe on me, let it breathe on me; let the breath of the Lord now breathe on me. Let it breathe on me, let it breathe on me; let the breath of the Lord now breathe on me.

*Call to Worship

Let us worship the eternal God, who creates us and all peoples, the earth and all that is in it, and gives us dominion over all God has made. Let us worship Jesus Christ, the Risen One, who lives among us. Let us worship the Spirit, the Holy Fire, who renews us. Behold our God is Holy Spirit. Let us worship God who is one in three, three in one, who heals our brokenness and gathers us as God’s people.

*Hymn 10 Sing Glory to the Name of God

*Invitation to Confession

*Prayer of Confession

(silent confession) Gracious God, breathing life into us, you gave us life and trust us to care for one another and the earth. But we often attack one another with words and weapons. We resist responding to others brokenness and suffering because they remind us of our own brokenness and vulnerability to suffering and loss. Though you trust us to care for the earth, we violate its beauty and natural resources for selfish gain. O Creator God of Love, forgive us. Call us yet again to nurture and protect the gift of life. Amen.

*Assurance of Forgiveness

And we look with faith for the triumph of righteousness in our community and in our world. Amen.

worship notes

Today is Trinity Sunday, the only day in the liturgical year when we focus on a doctrine instead of an event. While used to describe an entirely different subject altogether, Winston Churchill’s words could apply to the Trinity: “a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key….”
