NOTES o Do you know of someone who would appreciate home or
area care facility visits from our Lay Ministry Committee? We also have copies of our worship services and sermons available to send to their home if they are interested. Please contact our church office.
o Pastoral Search Process Update: The Advisory Board continues to make preparations for the pastoral search process, including developing a timeline of events and gathering input from the congregation to help develop our church profile. The Profile is the document that describes our church to potential applicants, much like our resume. It gives a snapshot of the church membership demographics, and also describes our strengths, weaknesses, and our vision for our ministry moving forward. In order to include input from as many members as possible, the Board will be holding several gatherings in the coming months where you are invited to share, discuss, reflect, dream, and articulate our church’s vision for the future. There will be a special meeting after Church on June 26 in Allerton Hall to kick off the search process for a new settled pastor. A light lunch will be served. We hope that everyone can make it.
o Search Committee Appointments: The Search Committee will be an Ad Hoc team appointed by the Advisory Board, and will be expected to be available to meet weekly or as needed beginning in September. To give the team time to get acquainted and ready to work, the Advisory Board intends to appoint the members of the committee at its June 28 meeting. If you are interested in being considered to serve, please make yourself known to a member of the Advisory Board before June 20.
o If you are being admitted to Jordan Hospital and wish a visit from our Pastor, please contact our church office. Also, upon registering at the hospital please designate your religious affiliation as “The Church of the Pilgrimage.”
o One of our ongoing efforts is to collect non-perishable food products for the Plymouth Area Food Warehouse. In particular, they need cereal, pasta and sauce, canned fruit, mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, peanut butter, and jelly. There is a large basket at the bottom of the right staircase in the lower vestibule of the church. We urge you to bring your donations to that basket any time. Thank you for your generous contributions.
o Today we will be receiving the “Strengthen the Church” offering. Please make checks payable to the Church of the Pilgrimage and write Strengthen the Church on the memo line. Thank you.

*HYMN No. 329 Now in the Days of Youth *INVOCATION (in unison) Katie Canducci
Almighty God, we turn to you this Pentecost Sunday in a worshipful spirit of joy and celebration. We are thankful for our Christian faith and for the young adults in our congregation who are publicly proclaiming this faith as their own today. O God, we pray that now and in the years ahead, you will walk very closely with them. Stir their lives with your Holy Spirit. Give them the wisdom and courage to walk in Christ’s ways. Fill their hearts with your loving presence, that they may always know your goodness and be sustained through their trust in you. Praying as Jesus taught us, we say, “Our Father…”

OFFERTORY MUSIC Bridge Over Troubled Water by Paul Simon, Arr. Kirby Shaw
Gabi Sears and Ben Anderson, Soloists [Members of the 2011 Confirmation Class]
I’ll be your bridge o’er troubled water, when you’re down I will carry you like a bridge o’er troubled water, I will lay me down. When you’re weary, feeling small, When tears are in your eyes I will dry them all; I’m on your side, oh, when times get rough And friends just can’t be found Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down. Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down. When you’re down and out, when you’re on the street, my Lord, When evening falls so hard, I will comfort you. I’ll take your part, oh, when darkness comes And pain is all around Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down. Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down. Sail on silver girl, sail on by. Your time has come to shine. All your dreams are on their way See how they shine. Oh, if you need a friend, Look around, I’m sailing right behind Like a bridge over troubled water, I will ease your mind. Like a bridge over troubled water, I will ease your mind.

+++ORDER FOR CONFIRMATION+++ Invitation Sentences Questions for the Candidates Greeting of Christian Love *Congregation Welcome (Unison) We, then, the members and friends of this church,
welcome you with joy into our Communion and fellowship. We pledge to you our sympathy, our help, and our prayers, that you may evermore increase in the knowledge and love of God. God grant that loving and being loved, blessing and being blessed, serving and being served, we may be prepared while we dwell together on earth for the perfect fellowship of the life everlasting.
*Affirmation of Faith *Sharing The Church of the Pilgrimage Covenant (Unison) We are united in striving to know the will of God, and to
walk in his ways, made known or to be made known to us. We hold it to be the mission of the Church of Christ to proclaim the gospel to all mankind, laboring for the
progress of knowledge, the promotion of justice, the reign of peace and the realization of human brotherhood. And we look with faith for the triumph of righteousness and the life everlasting.
Prayer of the Congregation (Unison) Almighty God, who in baptism received these your
servants into the church, forgave their sins, and promised them eternal life, increase in them the gifts of your Holy Spirit. Grant them love for others, joy in serving you, peace in disagreement, patience in suffering, kindness toward all people, goodness in evil times, faithfulness in temptation, gentleness in the face of opposition, self-control in all things. Thereby strengthen them for their ministry in the world; through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
