In The News… Fireworks and 4th of July activities

LITTLETON

Celebrate Red, White and You on TUESDAY, July 3,

2012 at Clement Park, 7306 W. Bowles Ave. from 5

p.m. to 10 p.m. Fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Go to ifoot-

hills.org for more information. The 17th annual Fourth

of July Family Festival and Fireworks Show will be held

on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at Belleview, Progress

and Cornerstone Parks near the intersection of Belle-

view and Windermere. With an emphasis on a safe

night for families, there will be strict enforcement of

laws prohibiting alcohol and personal fireworks. Pets

are strongly discouraged. Learn more at Littleton-

LONE TREE

Residents from Lone Tree and Acres Green are in-

vited to attend Lone Tree's annual Independence

Day Celebration, featuring the City's fourth annual

Firecracker 5K Run, community parade, live enter-

tainment, activities for kids, local food vendors and

spectacular fireworks show. Wristbands are required

to enter the celebration at Sweetwater Park. Each

household in Lone Tree and Acres Green can pick up

four (4) wristbands and purchase an additional four

(4) wristbands at $5 each (while supplies last). You

must show a driver's license or billing statement

with your current address to receive the wristbands.

Kids ages 3 and under do not need to wear a wrist-

band. Parade into park begins at 4 p.m. Fireworks

THORNTON

Fireworks display at Thornton Multipurpose

Fields at East 108th Avenue and Colorado

Boulevard at 9:35 p.m. Events prior to fire-

works include walk-around entertainers, food

and the Longmont Symphony Orchestra at 8

p.m. and a parachute jump just before fire-

The Meadows neighborhood will host its 4th of July party

at Metzler Ranch Park, 4175 Trail Boss Road, on July 4. It's

a holiday helping of family fun with kids events, live enter-

tainment and of course, a fireworks show. The fun starts

at 6 p.m. and ends with a fireworks show at 9 p.m. The

best view will be from within the park, 4175 Trail Boss

Road, though other areas with views of the park also will

have views of the fireworks. The display will last about a

half-hour. The website for the event is the website for the

Town of Castle Rock.

DENVER

Celebrate Independence Day at Sports Authority at

Mile High with the Denver Outlaws on July 4, 2012!

See the Outlaws take on expansion team the Ohio

The 18th Annual Cherry Creek Arts Festival will be

taking place July 6-8. The arts festival weekend event

is a world-class and award-winning celebration of the

visual, culinary and performing arts. The CCAF is

located in Denver’s Cherry Creek North Business

District, from 2nd to 3rd, on the six streets starting

ENGLEWOOD

Fireworks display will be launched from the baseball

fields at Cornerstone Park at 9:30 p.m. on July 4th

and can be seen from Belleview, Progress and Cor-

nerstone Parks. There will also be games, entertain-

ment, food and fishing on hand starting at 11 a.m..

AURORA

The city of Aurora has received written approval from the

Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office to continue as planned

with the 4th of July Spectacular fireworks display, sched-

uled to begin at 9:30 p.m. All activities, live music and

entertainment take place on Aurora’s Great Lawn located

on the west side of the Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E.

Alameda Parkway, on Wednesday, July 4. Free activities

for kids abound with face painters, balloon twists, a stilt

walker and craft making throughout the evening. Don’t

forget to tune your radios to Studio 1430 KEZW, our radio

partner, where you can hear the fireworks choreographed

to classic beats. Limited seating is available on the Aurora

Municipal Center lawn. The fireworks also may be viewed

from surrounding areas. Best viewing locations include

east of Potomac Street, south of Sixth Avenue, north of

Mississippi Avenue and west of Buckley Road. Visit Auro-

BOULDER

Fireworks spectacular at Folsom Field at the University of

Colorado with Ralphie's Independence Day Blast. Fireworks,

choreographed to live music, begin at 9:30 p.m. Gates open

at 8 p.m. and program begins at 8:30 p.m. Admission to the

fireworks display is free. For more information about park-

There seems to be some confusion on how the supplies are distrib-uted/stocked on the second floor. Scott will make sure that the cof-fee pots are cleaned and stocked with coffee, etc. We will also start ordering items in bulk for your floor, i.e., we will order a box of pa-per towels, tissues, forks, knives and spoons, coffee cups, sugar and creamers. We will put these supplies in the hallway closet outside the Alpine room. There will be a supply “replenish” list inside the closet door. As you are stocking your break area and notice that there are only a couple rolls of towels or other items left, please check off what items needs to be ordered and let Scott know so that we can quickly place another order for you. Hopefully this will help keep your area well stocked. When everyone helps out, its called Team Work!

Staff Appreciation Day... On July 4, 1776, we claimed our independence from Britain and Democracy was born. Every day thousands leave their homeland to come to the “land of the free and the home of the brave” so they can begin their American Dream. The United States is truly a diverse nation made up of dynamic people. Each year on July 4, Americans celebrate that freedom and independence with barbecues, picnics and fam-

ily gatherings. Please join us on Tuesday, July 3rd, for a gathering with your family away from home/co-workers to kick off the holiday with a BBQ, music, games and plenty of surprises throughout the day! In the morning you will find muf-fins and fruit; for lunch we will have BBQ/teriyaki chicken, black bean tor-tilla pie for those who do not like the meaty side of things, baked beans, dessert, ice tea and lemonade. If you would like to bring a side dish or salad

it would be most appreciated! Come try your hand at a game of “holey board” or simply sit under the canopy and enjoy some music and visit. There will be a game or two throughout the day and possi-bly a few other surprises. Please wear your red, white and blue! Directions

In a small bowl, combine the dressing ingredients; set aside. Meanwhile cook pasta according to package directions; rinse in cold water and drain. Transfer to a large bowl. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, saute garlic and basil in oil until garlic is tender. Pour over pasta. Add the cauliflower, toma-toes, green onions, red pepper, cheese and dressing; toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate until serving. Yield: 12-14 servings.

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1/4 cup sour cream

1/4 cup crum-bled blue cheese

1-1/2 tea-spoons milk

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon white vinegar

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon pepper

1/2 teaspoon honey mustard

1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

SALAD:

2-1/2 cups uncooked penne pasta

1 garlic clove, minced

3/4 teaspoon minced fresh basil or 1/4 teaspoon dried basil

2 tablespoons olive oil

1-1/2 cups fresh cauliflowerets

1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

3 green onions, chopped

1/4 cup chopped sweet red pepper

4 ounces mozzarella cheese,

Proposal Development: by Linda Sample made to enhance CFMC’s proposal development process and supporting tools both at the training sessions as well as through the debrief meeting that was held to review proposal de-velopment/submission for four excit-ing potential business opportunities for CFMC. All recommendations and suggestions have been assigned to members of our proposal process optimization team which are a prior-ity for the month of July. In addition, we will be starting our monthly brown bag training series on July 31tst from 11:30 am to 12:30 am in the Alpine Room. This first training session will focus on how to use the new Proposal Development (PDW)/storyboard tool. A formal invitation will be forthcoming via Outlook.

The proposal development process optimization team held its’ second training session on June 12th. This training session focused on how to integrate the proposal development process, roles and responsibilities and the tools/templates supporting each step of the process. A follow-up sur-vey was send out on June 27th to all participants from the first and/or second training session(s) to solicit feedback and provide input on sug-gestions for subsequent training. We would greatly appreciate receiving your feedback by COB July 12th so we can continue to provide and enhance training to create value for those of you involved in responding to RFPs.
