It’s a Journey, not a Sprint

• Management needs to support CI• Behaviors do NOT change overnight 

– it takes days/months/years• Train for the behavior you want

to see (coach daily)• Start with small wins 

– they add up to big wins

• We built several 5S carts and have them accessible to anyone in a designated area.

• They have all the tape, scissors, markers, tape measures, scraper, red tag sheets, label maker, trash can, etc.

5S Event ‐ Production 

• We had a 2 hour training with all shifts.

• Team members were divided up into 7 teams 

(1 Manager, 1 Shift Manager, 1 CI Team Member)

• 1 week to 5S their areas.

• After 1 week, leadership went around and toured each area & determined a winner.  

(Winners: Banner on the wall & t‐shirts)
