Community Outreach
We serve a hot meal every Thursday evening
from 5:30-6:30pm in The United Methodist
Fellowship Hall
We would welcome anyone who would like to volunteer to help in preparing the meal-anytime from 2:30-7pm.
Whatever works for you!
If you have any questions, or would like to give of your time to this mission, please call Marilyn Anderson at 308-350-0438
Community Supper welcomes anyone who is in need of a meal, or would simply like
some dining company.
From Pastor Arun
Mary and I would like to take a moment to thank
you all for the abundance of love, prayers, cards,
gifts, and gestures you all have extended to us
over the past couple of months. We have been
truly blessed-from my arrival in McCook, to our
marriage, to the birth of Edward. We have felt so
fortunate to call you our church family. We will
continue to hold you in our prayers as we turn the
page and begin the next chapter of our lives, fol-
lowing the call of the Author of love.
Thank you all.
Pastor Arun
JULY ISSUE 2018
In this newsletter you will find three additional
articles, (the first two appeared in last month’s
newsletter), which continue to address the issues
that face our church and denomination. The first
tells about the history of how these issues arose.
The last two attempt to bring you current on
what has been proposed as solutions. I would ask
that you read them with some care. Soon, our
church will hold an informal gathering where I
will present these issues and answer questions.

Little Blessings Preschool
Traci Wiemers, Teacher
Staci Meyers, Assistant Teacher
Preschool Updates:
Preschool lesson plans have turned into preschool to
do lists. It’s good to have time to deep clean our
closets, cupboards and things. The playground
equipment is stained and ready for another year.
Next will come painting and planning for the next
school year. We have students signing up for pre-
school this summer and we still have a few openings
so please call us if you would like to join us this fall,
345-6335.
We are offering “Jump Start Kindergarten” July 16th
to July 26th to our students who are entering
kindergarten in the fall. A time to review and get
back in the swing of school. We still have room if any
4 or 5 year old would like to join us, and if your not
going into kindergarten that’s ok. :)
Blessings,
Traci

Thank you for all your support while the Faithweavers was raising money toward their community project. The money went toward replacing furniture in the Alzheimer Unit. Pictured with them is Leigh Farrell that came up with the idea and the kids were excited to help. They were able to raise money from selling pictures that they painted, their weekly dues and the April Penny March collection. Now families, friends and residents can enjoy new chairs to sit on.

Fair Time Is Near
Hope ya’ll are hungry!!! Dian, Janet, and Kathy
have been working hard on getting all the crusts
ready for the pies for this year’s Methodist Food
Booth at the Red Willow County Fair. In total, they
make enough crusts for about 400 fruit and cream
pies.
13 flavors of pie will be
available, including
chocolate, lemon, sour
raisin, coconut cream,
peanut butter, and
many many more!!
Would you be interested
in helping by learning
how to make UMC’s fa-
mous pie crust? If so,
contact: Dian Trail-345-5116,
Janet Hepp-345-5387, or
Kathy Latta-340-0205
Fun fact: it takes the pie ladies
120 lbs of flour and 48 lbs of
lard to roll out enough dough
for all those pies!!! The cut
rhubarb for the pies alone
weighed over 20 lbs!

JULY ISSUE 2018
Currently, our prayer
shawl tote, (like Psalm
23:5), runneth over.
Thank you so much for
all those who spent
their precious time
making them.
Because they were
made with prayer,
and we have so many
to share, a number of
them are being boxed up to be sent to needy
children worldwide through Orphan Grain Train.
The UMC Care Team oversees this mission and has
a supply to be given. If you know a person
deserving of a prayer shawl, let the team know, or
contact the church office. As soon as the Care
Team is notified, they will present the shawl, along
with a prayer poem.
If you are wanting to be a part of this ministry by
making a prayer shawl, please keep the size under
20” x 60”. When you donate your new, hand made
shawl, be sure to inform the church so that we can
be sure to thank you!!

What Is A Prayer Shawl?
Prayer shawl. Peace shawl. Comfort shawl.
Whatever name you give them, they serve the
same purpose. These are wearable hugs crafted
with love. Whether it be personal words, verse,
song, prayer, or something else, it is these thoughts
imbued in the shawl with each stitch that make
them what they are.
Prayer shawls can be knitted, crocheted, woven,
or worked by any other means desired. They can
be shocking pink or muted tan and anything in
between. In the instance of these shawls, the
product is a physical representation of the process.
That process is a journey through thought and
intent.
These shawls are then given to those who may be
experiencing health issues, loneliness, grief, or for
any other time of needed comfort. Whenever the
recipient wears the shawl they have a tangible
reminder of the care and
prayers directed their
way. It is as much a
healing item for one
person as it is the other.
