Thank you so much for the quilt and the $100 scholarship! It will
definitely be used to help with college expenses. I am so blessed to be a

Thank you to all of you in the Hope commu-

time serving the Bertrand fair. We
needed all of you from cleaning,
serving, grilling, baking, to prayers, mone-
tary support and beyond. Thanks for being
there for us.
The Hope Serving Committee.
It is that time again when
school supplies are on sale.
Now is a good time to pick up items for
the Samaritans Purse Kits (November’s Mission of
the Month), since school supplies are hard to find
in October. If you have any questions please con-
tact Kathy Weber or Roxann Gregg.

In Christian Education news, the 4 Confirmation kids are at
Camp Joy this week. We did receive a notice concerning Day Camp
from Immanuel. Hope had 7 kids attend. The fall Sunday School
curriculum has been shipped.
Pastor Tim gave his Pastoral report. He made 1 Pastoral care
call, performed 16 shut in communions, made 8 hospital visits,
performed 1 wedding, attended a Ministerial meeting in Bertrand, and
led Chapel.
He has been doing some research on investments and church
money. He stated that there is nothing definite in scripture either for or
against investing. He did mention, however, the Parable of the Talents.
Pastor Tim does have the Adult Education curriculum ordered.
In property news, the air conditioner in the church has been fixed
(it was low on freon). The grass at the parsonage is coming up nicely.

Pastor contacted Jon Sullivan from Loomis regarding spraying the
church lawn & the parsonage lawn. This will be done sometime in
October. Rod Ford spread the recently acquired gravel throughout the
church yard.
Jeff & Pastor have purchased the 2 smart televisions for the high
school & confirmation rooms.
After a brief discussion, Dennis made the motion to purchase
moveable dividers with non-pinch hinges for an approximate cost of
$1150. They are 6 feet high and extend to 19 feet 6 inches in length and
will be navy blue to match the chairs & pews. Mike made the second.
Motion carried. These dividers will allow for extra privacy when needed
in the social hall.
There was nothing new on cemetery or Women of Hope.
Worship committee has services planned thru the end of July.
In old business, the Sunday School room updates are continuing.
It was mentioned that the high school room is looking very nice and the
counter was a very nice addition. Jeff will be meeting with the Eakes
representative here on Wednesday regarding adjustable tables.
The next meeting will be August 11 at 7:30 pm. The meeting
adjourned at 8:49 pm with the Lord's Prayer.
Respectfully submitted,
Lois Terrell, Council Secretary

Words of Hope A recent study from the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life found
that large numbers of people now engage in multiple religious practices,
mixing features of various faiths. Many blend Christianity with elements
of Eastern and New Age beliefs, such as reincarnation, astrology, and
even the occult. Because of this politically-correct pluralism, many
Christians now find themselves questioning whether Jesus Christ is real-
ly the only way to God. One denomination even went so far as to in-
clude commentary in a Youth Study Bible stating that “many people will
be saved who have never even heard the name of Jesus.”
If pollsters could ask Jesus that question, they would get a clear-cut an-
swer: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through Me.” (John 14:6)
If the asked the apostle Peter, they would be told: “Salvation is found in
no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by
which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)
Even before Christ, our Lord has spoken these very words Himself. “I
will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever.”
(Jeremiah 32:39)
Going the wrong way down a one-way street is deadly. It doesn’t matter
how sincerely intentioned the driver is, or how educated, or how broad-
minded. It can still get him killed. Don’t try to paint over the one-way
signs of Scripture. Heed the words of A.W.Tozer who wrote, “Jesus is
not one of many ways to approach God, nor is He the best of several
ways; He is the only way.”
As you travel along on your own
personal journey of faith, take
notice. Make sure you’re going
the right way. Amen.
<>< Pastor Tim
