I wish to thank all of you who participated in Connection Groups the first half of 2018. I wish to really thank all of those who lead the bible discussions and I wish to really, really thank all of those who hosted the group meetings. It takes effort and dedication from all angles to have a successful small group experience and you have all made it happen! Thanks so much! Feedback: It’s been said, “Numbers aren’t everything!” However, it’s also been conceded that, “Sometimes numbers are the only thing we have to measure progress.” Connection Group attendance ranged from 56 to 81 with an average of 68.5 attending each meeting (ignoring ice storms and Winterfest). This represents approximately 54% of the Sun- day morning worship attendance. In comparison, the Sunday morning bible class attendance represents approximately 60% of the Worship attendance. That said, other than our worship service, Connection Groups and Sunday morning bible class are the two biggest things we have going. Wouldn’t it be great if more participated in both class and Connection Groups? If you’ve been missing out on these two opportuni- ties, consider this a challenge to increase your participation with us! Groups Starting Back: August 5, 2018 Lesson book: Psalms, Prayers of the Heart What’s different? The Elders have given the church the mission of “Walking hand in hand with Jesus while reaching out to others” and want the Connection Groups to dedicate one meeting time per month to specifically plan an event that “reaches out to others.” This can have many forms. Ideas I have heard so far include nursing home visits, in- viting friends to activities organized around interests/hobbies (i.e. Plan, for example, a photography hike so you can invite friends with the same interest, thereby introducing them to members of our church and begin- ning relationships on which to build, both to serve them and to invite them to visit your group or our worship service.), planning a neighbor- hood cook-out/meal to invite neighbors to meet others in your group. These events may be scheduled any time during the week and would re- place the regular Connection Group bible study for that week. (You’ll have a book so you can study on your own for that lesson.) The intent is that we are making conscious efforts to reach out to others, be- yond our groups, to strengthen and to help grow the church. Groups can join efforts to enhance success. Those that have not been involved in Connection Groups are also invited to participate. The effort is that everyone is working together to build the church. Be watching for more info as this continues to take shape. Get creative and let me know your ideas so I can share with the others! Thanks, again! -Evan McGee
