 IT’S TIME TO GO

All things come to an end, even the best and happiest ones.  When the heavy and painful events are over, we sigh with relief, breathing out a silent prayer of thanksgiving. But when the beautiful things end, the challenge of the moment is to respond with obedience and faith. God knows what is best.  We must allow Him to lead us by the hand and to bring us to where He wants us to be. I know that my active ministry here at Sacred Heart Parish ends on July 31st,  2014.  I don’t want to go,  but I have to go.  The priesthood is sacrifice.  The core of sacrifice is obedience and love. As I move to St. Patrick’s Parish I will serve Sacred Heart from a different perspective.   I will love this community from a distance, even though it’s only 5.7 kms. away.  I will still pray and sacrifice for this spiritual family as I have been doing for my former assignments.  My love for Sacred Heart as well as my love for my previous assignments cannot be ended.  Love never ends.  Only its character will change. It will be love from a distance; a service impervious to distance and separation, because love knows no bounds. On July 31st, I will go.  Parting always involves sadness.  But parting is also a subtle invitation to plunge into deeper waters, to venture into the unknown, and trust more in the power of God.  It is only in dying that we can enter into eternal life.  When we let go, God leads us by the hand, step by step, into His heart. It’s time to go, I will carry in my heart many memories and many events, many faces.  Life is not perfect.  Life has its joys, but also has its fair share of hurts and disappointments.  I will remember the hurts with forgiveness with the healing power of God. And I will remember the joys with humility, knowing that God gave them to me not because I am deserving but because God is good. Thank you very much, Sacred Heart Faith Community for your love, prayers, patience, understanding and support.   God Bless all of you.    (Father Al)
