TheNawabobservedthatthereweremillionsfollowingSriChaitanyaMahaprabhu

on his way toRamkeli and the unison of the Harinaam Sankirtan that people

performedonthejourneyastoundedhim.Hewasbewilderedatthemagnanimity

of the Lord and was falling short of reason to explain this phenomenon. He

summoned his Hindu minister Keshav Chattri.He asked Keshav Who is this

mendicantwhohas thewholeofBengaldeliriouslydancingand singing behind

him. My reasoning fails me and I am impatient beyond wits to know what is

happening.ThisexclamationbytheNawabfrightenedKeshav.Keshavknewfrom

before how cruel the Nawabcouldget. The Nawabs height of cruelty can be

gaugedbyaparticular incident.When theNawabspalatialmansionwasunder

constructionhewouldgofor site inspectionjust tocheckonthequalityofwork

thatwas underway.Hewouldoften go to the fourthor fifth floorandpickup a

squabble with a lowly worker. He would complaint about the walls and the

windowsthatwerebeingconstructed.Hewouldcalltheworkertohaveaclose

lookattheunfinishedwalltocheckthedefect.Theworkerwouldinnocentlyclose

in to thewall.When this worker got sufficiently close to the edge of the floor

railing,theNawabwouldmercilesslykicktheworkerofftherailingandtheworker

wouldlandwithathudonahillofstonesfromthefifthfloor.InthiswaytheNawabwouldruthlesslymurderinnocentbeingsandderivesadisticpleasureoutofsuch

activity.

RupaandSantanawereactuallyservingsuchacruelmaster.ThiscruelNawab

howeversoftenedwhenhewasinthecompanyofRupaandSanatana.Onecan

imagine the transcendental qualities that both the brothers possessed to have

suchacruelpersonapproachthemwithseeminghumility!TheNawabwhowas

nothinglessthananunforgivingandhardheartedghoul,wouldoftenmeltinthe

companyofRupaandSanatana.KeshavChattriwassurethatif theNawablost

his temper then probably he would leave no stone unturned to devastate Sri

thatheisbeingfollowedbymillions.Actuallythereareonlyafewhandfulsoffools

who are following him and the reason they are following him is because they

themselvesareunemployed.Youhavebeentotallymisinformedaboutthisinsane

mendicant. It would call for your wisdom to just forget this mendicant and

concentrate on other important activities. This enraged the Nawab and he

retortedDoyoufeelthatIhavelostit,tosummonyouandenquire?Thetimesaresobadthatnobodytrustsanybody.Itisimpossibletogarnerahugecrowdevenif

youspendtheentirewealthfromtheroyalcoffers.Thisparticularmendicanthas

gatheredmillionswithoutevenspendingasinglepenny.Thisdoesnotappearto

beanormalhappeningtome.Thisisimpossibilitywheresomeonecanhavethe

wholestatesinganddancebehindyou.Thisfellowis definitelynotanordinary

humanbeing.Hehassomesortofdivinityattachedtohim.Thisfellowseemsto

benoneotherthanGod.HearingtheNawabspeakthus,KeshavChattrithought,

groundofcattleandhorses,understandthedivinityofSriChaitanyaMahaprabhu.

Thisindividualwhoselungsarefilledwiththeobnoxiousgasesofthehukkaand

the stomach is filled with all sorts of meat savories, how such a person could

divinethenatureoftheLord.ThiswasasimpledemonstrationofSriChaitanya

Mahaprabhuspiritualprowessandnothingelse,hebelieved.

TheNawabissuedaproclamationthatIfanybodyposedanyimpedimentto the

activitiesofSriChaitanyaMahaprabhu,hewoulddestroysuchaperson.Keshav

ChattriwassimplyoverjoyedattheNawabsstatement.Thishappeningreached

the ears of Rupa and Sanatana and they were terrified imagining the turn of

events.Theyknewthatonewhodoesnothavehissensesunderhiscontrolcan

nowaybetrusted.TodaytheNawabmaydosomethingandtomorrowthesame

personmaydosomething totallycontrary. TheNawabcannever bedepended

upon.TheycouldjustequatethebehavioroftheNawabtothatofKamsa.Kamsa

wasthecharioteerofhissisterforonemomentandthenextmomenthewantedto

behead the samesister whom one thought Kamsa loved verymuch.Rupa and

SanatanaimmediatelyapproachedLordChaitanyaandfelldownatHisfeet.They

told the Lord. We are the most fallen sinners. We are also ashamed to be

standingbeforeyou.Youhaveappearedtoraisethefallensoulsandthereareno

morefallensoulsthanbothofus.Weareevenmoredegradedanddepravedthan

JagaiandMadhai.OLordwehavespentourwholelifeby indulgingourselvesin

unholyactsandtherebycastingthenooseofdeatharoundourownnecks.Not

onlythat,wearealsohappilytighteningtheverysamenoose.Weareimmersed

inthisseaoffilth.Pleaseupliftusfromthisentrenchmentofdirtymire.

Once Srila Prabhupada was on a MorningWalk.The waves of the expansive

oceanwerearrivingattheshorefromgreatdistances.Lookingatthewavesone

devoteeexclaimedPrabhupada,justseehowbeautifultheoceanis,justlookat

thosewaves.PatcamethereplyfromSrilaPrabhupadaYesyouareright,the

oceanisalwaysbeautifulfromadistance,gonearit,enteritandyouwillknow

whatIamsaying.Theoceanwillgripyoutodeath.Oncethedevoteeshadgone

for a holy pilgrimage to Jagannath Puri.The Ocean at Puri is dangerously

rough.RadhanathSwamiMaharajhadgoneintotheoceantohaveabathinaonepiece cloth. He didnot come out of the ocean for a very long time.Swamijis

servantwent inside to findoutwhatwaswrong.Maharaj said, Theoceanhas

consumedtheonepieceofclothwithwhichIenteredintoit,howisitpossiblefor

metocomeoutinthisstate?TheservantimmediatelycamebacktoMaharajwith

a fresh piece of cloth which Maharaj used to wrap himself up. Maharaj after

comingoutquippedIenteredtheoceanasaGaudiyaGuruandtherewasevery

possibilitythatIcomeoutasaNagaBaba.Therewasanotherincidentwherea

devoteewaswarnedfromgoingtoodeepintotheoceanwaters.Therearesome

specimenswhoalwaysdocontraryto what isadvised.They deriveaparticular

pleasureindoingso.

The person who really challenges the ocean waves is usually the onewho is

confident of his swimmingskills. The onewho is not a goodswimmer always

stands at a safe distance from the ocean and is happy deriving pleasure by

sprinklingwateron himself from the deadwavesthatmanage totouchhis feet

withdraggingdifficulty.Apersonwhoisanadeptinswimmingisinactualitymore

vulnerabletodrowningascomparedtoapersonwhodoesnotknowswimming.A

personwhodoesnotrisktheoceanwaveshasnofearofdrowning.Howeverthe

onewhoisproudofhisswimmingprowessrunstheriskofdrowning.Onesuch

devoteeentereddeepintotheoceanevenaftermuchdeliberationsandwarnings.

Then the inevitable happened, he was dragged farther into the ocean by the

colossal waves and he had to raise both his hands towards the heavens to

indicatethathewasactuallydrowning.Theotherdevoteesontheshoremistook

hisgesturesfortheecstasyofHariBolbutsoonrealizedthattheircandidatewas

actuallycaughtbetweenthedevilandthedeepsea.Luckilyforthem,knowingthe

natureofbothhumansandtheoceans,thereweresomelifeguardswhowentfor

therescue.Thusthelifeofthefoolishdevoteewassaved.
