31st FILBERG FEstIVAL 2013 EntERtAInERs — 232 32nd FILBERG FESTIVAL 2014

Say ‘T hanks’ to a Volunteer“We make a living by what we get, we make a life by

what we give” - Winston Churchill

To all our Volunteers who work so tirelessly, we extend

our gratitude for your efforts, your dedication and

commitment to the success of the Filberg Festival. Without

you it could not be done.

We would also like to thank our volunteer sponsors

Canadian Western Bank - Courtenay Branch and RE/MAX

Ocean Pacific Realty whose support will assist with looking

after our volunteers during the Festival.

“Canadian Western Bank strongly believes in supporting

and strengthening the communities that our customers

and employees call home.  We are proud to be involved

with the Filberg Society, preserving a gem in our Valley

through an iconic annual festival.  The commitment of

volunteers in organizing the Festival is absolutely amazing

and once again demonstrates the spirit of our community.

Thank you for giving us an opportunity to help!”

— Jean-Marc Jaquier- Branch Mgr. - Canadian Western Bank Courtenay

“The Comox Valley is known for its spirit of volunteerism.

If you have a task to perform, a challenge to meet,

whether it’s guiding the Olympic Torch through the valley

communities or assisting visitors at YQQ, your event or

impression will be better because of the volunteer.  The

Filberg Festival shines brightly to thousands of visitors,

artisans and performers because of the quality of the

volunteers.  At RE/MAX Ocean Pacific Realty we participate

in our community and applaud those who join us.  It’s a

privilege to be here. “

— Dave Procter & Marty Douglas RE/MAX Ocean Pacific Realty Ltd.

Welcome to the 32nd annual

Filberg Festival. On behalf of

the the Board of Directors of the

Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park

Association, thank you for coming

and for supporting this unique

outdoor arts event. The Festival

continues to be our principle source

of funding, providing the revenue

required to operate the association

and to continue the restoration to

the Lodge.

More than 130 artisans are

presenting their arts and crafts for

sale, once again. How exciting it is

to be able to showcase the recently

constructed Comox Rotary Stage for

the 2014 musical lineup.

Thank you to our community,

our sponsors, the more than 300

volunteers and our staff who make

the Festival happen. The park, the

gardens, the Lodge nestled below

the Beaufort Mountains on Comox

Harbour create the perfect east

coast of Vancouver Island setting,

for this celebration of the arts.

Enjoy the food, the arts and crafts,

the music and have fun.

Record Staff With the 32nd annual Filberg Festival coming

up, a new stage at the park will have its rst opportunity to display both local and national talent over the course of the weekend.

The new Comox Rotary Stage recently received an upgrade from the usual tent-like canopy.

With a donation of $15,000 toward building the stage from the Rotary Club of Comox and $5,000 each from The Comox Valley Community Foundation and Coastal Community Credit Union, the 191 Construction Engineering Flight subunit of 19 Wing Comox volunteered to build the stage.

“We de nitely like opportunities to work in the community and give something back to the community that supports us,” said 191 CEF Commander, Lt. Teslin Bruhn earlier this year.

The concrete stage has four pillars and a timber frame structure, covered with a slanted metal roof for a sturdy, open design. The electrical work is mostly concealed by the new structure, ensuring a

With Carli on vocals and guitar and Julie on vocals, violin, mandolin and bass guitar, this energetic duo creates a sound that is truly their own. Carli and Julie were nominated for ve 2012 BC Country Music Awards, and the 2013 VIMA for Roots Album of the Year.
