JULY 2020 NEWSLETTER ■ i UNIVERSITYOFUTAH
FIREWORK SAFETY AND BURN TREATMENT
2020 is not a normal year. The COVID-19 situation has caused municipalities to cancel activities and fireworks shows across the nation.
People will still want private fireworks displays in order to make this Independence Day feel closer to normal. Unfortunately, that means unskilled and untrained people will launch fireworks in their front yards.
The University of Utah Burn Center has issued guidelines and reminders for providers, as well as parents. These helpful reminders are meant to keep additional patients from needing emergency care, during this time when hospital resources are already strained.
