ANNUAL TENT EVENT Saturday, June 25th 5pm
All ages Welcome! Bring your tent or RV and join in a night of fellowship, worship, and fun! We will share dinner, make s’mores, light the tree activity and much more. Start a new summer tradition with your family and join us for the fun.
I hope everyone is finding time to enjoy God’s Crea-tion this summer. During this season several years ago we went to two services on Sunday morning. We found that allowing for this change gave musi-cians (and pastors) a welcomed respite to recharge and renew. This schedule worked because so many in the congregation were willing to make the need-ed adjustment in their schedule to accommodate for two services. The blessing in this sacrifice is a larger community gathered to sing and worship our Lord. Along with a special time to meet with other members who may usually attend the service be-fore or after the one you go to each week. I hope many of us will be able to attend the 9am Bible Study before or after worship, just another opportunity to grow in our faith together this summer.
Your brother in Christ, Pastor Jay

THE NEXT CHAPTER (from the Newsletter of Justin & Kari Eller)
As I laid my son down to bed tonight and he slowly drifted off to sleep, I hummed to him, taking deep
breaths, and tried to emanate a sense of stability in the midst of so much change. He was restless and I
was too. At the end of the month, we are leaving. We made this decision as a family for so many rea-
sons, but suffice it to say that it is simply the right time. God brought us this far by faith and it is with
a strengthened sense of that very same faith that we will close the seven year chapter of our lives as
missionaries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
To be a m i s s i o n a r y i s complicated to say the least, but it is also as simple as being a part of
God´s mission, of what God is up to in the world. Some do this locally, others in another city, state, or
country. We have been blessed these past seven years, to not only be missionaries, but to be mission-
ized, transformed by those who have loved us and become our “chosen” family. We leave with hearts bursting with stories and mem-
ories of time spent with our companion church brothers and sisters, their joys and struggles, and above all, we leave enriched and fed
with their love and care.
Everette finally fell asleep and as I plotted my escape plan (so he wouldn´t wake up- ha!) the Christmas lights in his room that stay
up year round because he just simply likes them, shed light on the world map on his wall, appropriately titled, Our World, and I was
inspired to write this to you. Our world is about to change. Everette is excited and eager to see his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cous-
ins, and his dog again, find a new house, make new friends, learn new things, and yet as a five year old he does not quite understand
how his best friend won´t be able to come over and play every week or how at his new school, they will sing different songs in an-
other language, or how he won´t be able to buy a Kinderegg on Fridays. In different ways, Justin and I will do the same. Like Ever-
ette, we are excited for what´s in store, but know that it will take us probably a year or two to adjust, to begin feeling our roots grow
deeper in new soil, and truly at “home” again. While we are still and always will be just Kari and Justin despite our physical location,
things about us have changed and when we open up our storage unit of stuff in the US, we´re bound to notice.
Our next year will be about letting the first part of our lives meet the last seven years of our lives and seeing how that beautiful com-
bination fits perfectly into our new calls. On the other hand, our next few weeks are sure to be packed with emotional highs and lows
as we sell our things, spend time with friends here, and prepare for the journey ahead. These past seven years for us have been a
chapter well worth writing and I hope on your side, worth reading. I want to thank you for all your years of accompaniment, kind
words, and support. Sharing our journey with you has been an important and fun part of it all. Our world is your world too. We are
all in it together and as our world constantly changes, it is made better when remember that we are not alone, nor are we forgotten.
God´s mission is about being a good neighbor to whomever is in need and our neighbors are both close and far away. This will be
my last newsletter and although they will stop coming, I humbly ask that you continue to keep those far-away neighbors in your
prayers and with your actions, and in your words locally, remember them globally.
We will begin our reintegration process spending time with our families in NC during the first few months, attending Summer Mis-
sionary Conference in Chicago, and once we know where Justin will be called, we will publicize it on my website
(karieller.weebly.com) that I will keep up for a while until the end of our reintegration. As we reflect on where we have been and
weave it into where we are going, we are steadied and propelled by this prayer called Keep me in Touch with my Dreams by Ted
Loder. May it cover you as well with peace that is beyond understanding as you gaze into your future and discover that God is al-
ready at work in your story.

Keep Me In Touch with My Dreams Guerrillas of Grace Prayers for the Battle by Ted Loder Keep Me In Touch with My Dreams...O Lord, In the turbulence And the loneliness of my living from day to day And night to night, Keep me in touch with my roots, So I will remember where I came from and with whom; Keep me in touch with my feelings, So I will be more aware of who I really am And what it costs; Keep me in touch with my mind So I will know who I am not And what that means; And keep me in touch with my dreams, So I will grow toward where I want to go And for whom. O Lord, Deliver me From the arrogance of assuming I know enough to judge others; Deliver me From the timidity of presuming I don’t know enough to help others; Deliver me From the illusion of claiming I have changed enough When I have only risked little, That, so liberated, I will make some of the days to come different. O Lord, I ask not to be delivered From the tensions that wind me tight, But I do ask for A sense of direction in which to move once wound, A sense of humor about my disappointments, A sense of respect for the elegant puzzlement of being human, And a sense of gladness for your kingdom Which comes in spite of my fretful pulling and tugging. O Lord, Nurture in me The song of a lover, The vision of a poet, The questions of a child, The boldness of a prophet, The courage of a disciple. O Lord, It is said you created people Because you love stories. Be with me as I live out my story

PADS MINISTRY It is with deep appreciation for all of the PADS volunteers and site managers of St. Mark that I’m writing
this thank you letter. For those from other churches and private sources who come to cook, deliver, or serve the delicious meals provided for our guests every Tuesday and Friday Night. Thanks to your generosity we have been able to stay open two nights a week. The statistics will not be in this letter, but will be included in the note-
book I am preparing for each Cook Team this fall. The servers and the clean up crews are awesome as well are those who make desserts, lunches, and breakfasts. Thank you to those who come in during the wee hours in the cold to work second and third shifts. To those who put away pads and sanitize the facility, we can’t say thanks enough. To boy scouts and their leaders who set up the sleeping area with mattresses, linens, take lunch and hygiene product orders. During our break the boy scouts earned merit badges by brightening up our facility with a fresh coat of paint. Last but not least to our site managers Flo B and Tom T who do an amazing job of keeping us up and running. Together they are responsible for the checks and balances we need for this organization to keep the site open and providing this valuable service to the community. I will be contacting you by phone in the upcoming weeks to see if you are able to continue with this very special ministry. I hope to have everything in place in July. Feel free to call me or leave a message for me with the church office. Bless you all, Linda M.

July 3, 2016 – Galatians 6:2
“Carrying Others Burdens” by Rev. Dr. Daniel J. Brege, St. Paul Lutheran Church~Decatur, IN
We are encouraged to bear one another’s burdens and thus fulfill the law of Christ. Our Savior fulfilled this law and per-
fectly carried our misery, sin and death. Now we are privileged and empowered by this Gospel to bear one another’s
burdens.
July 10, 2016 – Luke 10:25-37
“Who’s Your Neighbor?” by Rev. Dr. Thomas R. Ahlersmeyer, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, IN
A lawyer’s request to define who’s his neighbor launches Jesus into a story of need (the beaten traveler) and deed (the
good Samaritan). Jesus is the “ultimate neighbor” who receives and gives, calling us to be “good Samaritan neighbors”
in our world.
June 17, 2016 – Luke 10:38-42
“Complications and Challenges” by Rev. James L. Elsner, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church~Stroh, IN
What has your attention? Mary and Martha were each focused on different things. And things like those reflect your
heart’s condition. Jesus challenges us to put Him first, though.
July 24, 2016 – Luke 11:1-13
“Asking of God” by Rev. Dr. Daniel J. Brege, St. Paul Lutheran Church~Decatur, IN
Jesus says that as we ask, seek and knock in prayer, our heavenly Father will indeed give us the Holy Spirit. Believers in
Jesus have been given the Holy Spirit in their Baptism, and as God's children they continually ask for the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit only comes to us through the Word, and as He comes to us, He is really the ultimate answer to the peti-
tions of the Lord's Prayer. The Holy Spirit continues to establish us in Christ and in His salvation.
July 31, 2016 – Colossians 3:1-11
“Living With a Purpose” by Rev. Paul E. Shoemaker, Emanuel Lutheran Church~New Haven, IN
Our world encourages us to live for the moment and enjoy the immediate pleasures of life. The pathway is clearly
marked by our passions. But Christ has a different path that He has clearly marked. It is marked with “the things that
are above.”

Independence Day Prayer by Mary Fairchild
Dear Lord,
There is no greater feeling of liberation than to experience this freedom from sin and death that you have provided for me through Jesus Christ. Today my heart and my soul are free to praise you. For this, I am very thankful.
On this Independence Day, I am reminded of all those who have sacrificed for my freedom, following the example of your
Son, Jesus Christ. Let me not take my freedom, both physical and spiritual, for granted. May I always remember that a very
high price was paid for my freedom. My freedom cost others their very lives.
Lord, today, bless those who have served and continue to give their lives for my freedom. With favor and bounty meet their
needs and watch over their families.
Dear Father, I am so thankful for this nation. For all the sacrifices others have made to build and defend this country, I am
grateful.
Thank you for the opportunities and freedoms we have in the United States of America. Help me never to take these bless-ings for granted.
Help me to live my life in a way that glorifies you, Lord. Give me the strength to be a blessing in someone's life today, and
grant me the opportunity to lead others into the freedom that can be found in knowing Christ.
Amen
Happy 4th of July! As we celebrate the birthday of this nation, I
thought it would be a great opportunity to make a new family
tradition - making the fourth a day for national prayer.
I am guilty of seeing things in a very negative light from our
school systems, local governmental agencies, to our national
government. There is a lot in the news to make us feel as though
all is for naught. Yet we serve a God who tells us that he is in
control and we are His children. To reconcile these two opposing
views prayer is necessary.
So this 4th of July before we head to the fireworks, or a
barbeque I plan to take a moment with my family to pray for the
things that concern me most about my community, my state and
our great nation.
Below is some inspiration if your considering adding prayer to
this important day. To those of us who have always prayed for us
2 Corinthians 3:17
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit
of the Lord is, there is freedom “ Editor’s Note
Galatians 5:13 ESV
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
Isaiah 61:1 ESV
The Spirit of the Lord God is up-on me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenheart-ed, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
Romans 8:1 ESV
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
