GRAND KNIGHT REPORT

Brother Knights, We had two items on our list to accomplish in the last couple of weeks. The first was to have some more men see our Council as a benefit to themselves and their family by taking the Admission Degree and joining our council. The other is to have our Council members current on their membership dues requirement. Well we had 5 five men scheduled for the Admissions degree and the Council is pleased to welcome Joel Blaser, Nicholas Vint and Colin O’Neill and their families into the Knights of Columbus and the Father Peter Welling Council. Seventy six dues reminder cards were mailed with seven returned by the postman. We have membership cards ready for you as you catch up on the dues and remain current on the Knights of Columbus Supreme roster. The Calvary Memorial Day Remembrance Mass with the American Flags on the Veterans of Foreign Wars was celebrated in full sunshine and very well attended again. Our Council has been instrumental in furthering these programs. The newly ordained Deacon Jason Doher served with Bishop James Conley. Deacon Doher will attend one more year of school and we are looking forward to his 2017 ordination into the priesthood as we have been supporting him in our Support of Vocations Program. The fireworks stand 40’ X 80’ tent had been put up on a lot at 48th and Madison Street which is 2 blocks South of 48th and Adams Street. We will sell on July 3 and July 4. Hopefully you and your family are able to help with our major fund raiser program. My time working side by side with you as your Grand Knight has been challenging and rewarding. When you look at the running list of Council’s activities, it is evident that many men and their families are needed to accomplish these projects. In short, since 2014, the 107 year old church was vacated and demolished. The gym church was setup and transformed numerous times per week. The new church was consecrated and parishioner fabricated burr oak pews with hymnal holders, kneelers and walnut Celtic inlaid crosses were installed. Twenty three men became Knights of Columbus and joined the Father Peter Welling Council and 10 other Knights of Columbus transferred to our Council. Join me in supporting the Council’s new officers and adding to the Father Peter Welling council running list of Council activities. Help pray for all of those on the daily Knights of Columbus Nebraska prayer list. We hope everyone has an enjoyable and safe Independence Day.
