The Reel Thing is an exploration of the age old relationship between

Shetland’s historic dances and the fiddle music that was created

for them – the very roots of our musical heritage. For decades in the 20th century the dances were virtually forgotten, before

Shetland Folk Dance rescued them from oblivion. The fiddle

tunes survived but were played only to listeners.

Recent collaboration with Shetland Fiddlers’ Society

has recreated the fascinating symbiosis between dance

and tunes, which enables their partnership to present an authentic performance of the “real thing” and an opportunity for the audience to

participate.

There are few words to describe the power, passion and pure soulfulness of the sisters live.
