A special way to remember a loved one is to donate the monthly
Altar Bread and/or Wine in honor of their memory.
You may also choose to remember a loved one by donating a
weekly Sanctuary Lamp in either the Church or the Chapel.
Sanctuary Lamps burn day and night to illuminate the Blessed
Sacrament, serve as an emblem of Christ's abiding love, and as a
reminder to the faithful to respond with loving adoration in
return.
The Altar Bread for June is donated in loving memory of
Luis Carmargo (the Chan Family)
The Altar Wine for June is donated in loving memory of
Luis Carmargo (the Chan Family)
The Sanctuary Lamp in the Church this week is donated for
the deceased members of our Parish

A Message From Father Jose
I do hope that you had a memorable “2020 Independence
Day Celebration.” Yes, in truth, we realize that the tran-
sition caused by the pandemic is not easy to face head-on.
But, have courage! We must all pray for guidance as we
positively move along. Do not forget as scripture says
“We are not alone in each day that we pass on.” As in the lyr-
ic of the song by Bette Midler says, “God is always watch-
ing us from a distance.” God Bless….. Fr Jose
You have crowned the year
with your bounty, and your
paths overflow with a rich har-
vest.
— Psalm 65:12
Tú coronas el año con tus bie-
nes, tus senderos derraman
abundancia.
— Salmo 65 (64):12
GOD’S WORDS
Each day we are bombarded with thousands of
words. From the moment our clock radios click on in the
morning, until the last moment of the day when the tele-
vision is turned off or someone bids us “good-night,” our
life is filled with words. Some words that we hear bring
news that leaves us feeling low. Some words lift our spir-
its. Many of the words we hear are trying to get us to buy
something. Some words are hurtful. Today the Church
focuses our attention on hearing the word of God. Are
God’s words just more of the same—part of the endless
stream of words that flow into our ears each day? The
challenge today is to allow God’s word to inspire us in
new ways so that our outlook and attitudes align them-
selves more closely with the heart and mind of Christ
Jesus.
TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — My word will achieve the end for which it was
sent (Isaiah 55:10-11).
Psalm — The seed that falls on good ground will yield a fruitful
harvest (Psalm 65).
Second Reading — We, who have the first fruits of the Spirit,
groan within ourselves awaiting the redemption of our bodies
(Romans 8:18-23).
Gospel — Some seed fell on rich soil and produced fruit
(Matthew 13:1-23 [1-9]).

GOD WITHIN
In everything, be it a thing sensed or a thing known,
God is hidden within. —St. Bonaventure
SAINT KATERI TEKAKWITHA (1656-1680)
July 14
Though the New York State
Thruway runs close by the North
American Martyrs’ Shrine,
traffic’s roar never pierces the
peace enveloping Auriesville—
Ossernon to Native Americans—
in the lovely Mohawk Valley,
where Kateri Tekakwitha was
born barely ten years after the
martyrdom of Isaac Jogues and
his Jesuit and lay companions.
Daughter of a Christian Algon-
quin mother and non-Christian
Mohawk chief, Kateri’s parents
died in a smallpox epidemic
widely blamed on the missionaries. Moreover, many Native
Americans had experienced exploitation at the hands of
“Christian” traders and trappers, further discrediting the faith
Kateri embraced in baptism, then pledged to live even more
intensely in vowed virginity. Misunderstanding led to harass-
ment, prompting her move to a Christian village farther north
along the Saint Lawrence River. Despite this, Kateri’s faith re-
mained undaunted, her selfless charity undiminished. Both be-
fore and after her death at twenty-four, this young “Lily of the
Mohawks” drew countless converts to Christ by the fragrance
of her goodness. Through us, does “the aroma of Christ” (2 Co-
rinthians 2:15), attract others to the beauty of his gospel?
Christ the Gardener
We celebrate Christ the gardener,
who came to sow the seed of God’s
word in our world. The fate of that
seed depends on the type of soil
where it is sown. The growth of His
grace in our lives all depends on how
we receive it. Adding a very hopeful
note, St Paul assures us that all of
creation is in a state of evolutionary
growth, to become all that God
wants it to be: his own flourishing
“Kingdom”.

Coronavirus Prayers
Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels and Mother of
the Americas. We fly to you today as your beloved children.
We ask you to intercede for us with your Son, as you did at the
wedding in Cana.
Pray for us, loving Mother, and gain for our nation and world,
and for all our families and loved ones, the protection of your
holy angels, that we may be spared the worst of this illness.
For those already afflicted, we ask you to obtain the grace of
healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those who are vulner-
able and fearful, wipe away their tears and help them to trust.
In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to
love one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to bring
the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts.
We come to you with confidence, knowing that you truly are
our compassionate mother, health of the sick and cause of our
joy.
Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us in the
embrace of your arms, help us always to know the love of your
Son, Jesus. Amen.

O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the
cross took part in Jesus' pain, keeping your faith firm.
You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need,
and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee,
we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the
Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon
himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us,
through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen.
Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God.
Do not disdain the entreaties of we who are in trial, but deliver
us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.

A Student Prayer
Thank you, God, for giving me a mind that
can know and a heart that can love.
Help me to stay focused on my studies, and
encourage me when learning is difficult
that I may grasp the truth that is held out
before me.
Grant me the grace to put my knowledge to
use in building the kingdom of God on
earth that I may find the courage to follow
Your Son, Jesus. Amen.
