July 11 - 21, 2019 (11 days) Iceland Day 1: Canada to Reykjavík. Join our fellow travellers in Toronto as we make our way to Reykjavik. Day 2: Reykjavik to Laugarbakki. We start our journey of Iceland in the great lava fields of the Reykjanes and then make our way passed Reykjavik to the town of Borgarnes. We travel through the Borgarfjörður area to the amazing Hraunfossar waterfalls and the great hot spring of Deildartunguhver. We then travel across Holtavörðuheiði heading north to our accommodation at Hotel Laugarbakki. Day 3: Laugarbakki to Akureyri. Today we travel through the farmland of Húnavatnssýsla to the Skagafjðrður Heritage Museum located at a Traditional Turf Farm. We then travel through the mountains to Eyjafjörður and go whale watching at Akureyri, the capital of the north, where we also stay at the centrally located Hotel Norðurland. Day 4: Akureyri to Lake Mývatn. This morning we make our way to Eyjafjörður and then inland to the great Goðafoss (waterfall of the gods). We then head back to the coast, stopping in the old fishing village of Húsavík. Then we travel out to the Tjörnes peninsula just a few miles south of the arctic circle and to the horse-shoe shaped geological formation at Ásbyrgi, said to be where Odin´s eight-legged horse Sleipnir once touched down. We then head to Mývatn where we will spend the night. Day 5: Lake Myvatn to Egilsstad. Today we enjoy the volcanic Mývatn area, visiting the lava field Dimmuborgir and the Námaskarð hot springs. Then we make our way to the magnificent waterfall Dettifoss and the breathtaking wastelands of Fjöllin where we overnight in the Lake Hotel on the banks of Lagarfljót glacial river, said to be the home of the great Wyrm. Iceland

Day 1: Canada to Reykjavík. Join our fellow travellers in Toronto as we make our way to Reykjavik.

Day 2: Reykjavik to Laugarbakki. We start our journey of Iceland in the great lava fields of the Reykjanes and then make our way passed Reykjavik to the town of Borgarnes. We travel through the Borgarfjörður area to the amazing Hraunfossar waterfalls and the great hot spring of Deildartunguhver. Day 6: Egilsstadir to Höfn. Today we travel through the Eastfjords of Iceland with their rugged coastline and wild mountains passing through Reyðarfjörður, Stöðvarfjörður, Berufjörður and Djúpivogur with a few scenic photo stops along the way and a visit to the fascinating Petra´s mineral collection.

Day 7: Höfn to Vik. This morning we travel to Europe´s biggest glacier, Vatnajökull, with its long glacier tongues flowing towards the lowlands. We take a cruise on the breathtaking glacier lagoon among the icebergs and drive across the black sand deserts left in the wake of volcanic glacier flooding. We also travel through the otherworldly eldhraun lava flow towards the great basalt columns. Reynisdrangar. Tonight, is spent in Vik.

Day 8: Vik to Reykjavik. We start today by visiting the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skogarfoss, located in the foothills of Eyjafjallajökull volcano. Later, we head to the Golden Circle with lunch at the organic tomato greenhouse farm Friðheimar. On the way to Reykjavik, we visit the Great Geysir hot spring area, the massive waterfall Gullfoss and the National Park and Rift Valley of Þingvellir.

Day 9: City Sightseeing - Reykjavík & The Blue Lagoon. In the morning we enjoy a city tour of Reykjavik. We’ll visit the main landmarks, such as The Pearl and Hallgrímskirkja Church. This afternoon the group visits one of the world’s twenty-five wonders, The Blue Lagoon. You’ll have the night free to enjoy.

Day 10: Reykjavík. Our last full day in Iceland is a free day, ours to spend however we’d like! Later join our fellow travellers for the farewell dinner.

Day 11: Transfer from Hotel to Keflavik airport. This morning we say our goodbyes as we make our way back to Canada.
